The Opportunity

The scope of this Senior Manager Market Access - US position includes deploying a comprehensive market access and reimbursement strategy for the Infectious Disease diagnostic testing portfolio in the US which includes leading the point-of-care (POC) molecular platform IDNOW.

The US Senior Market Access Manager will be responsible for securing Abbott’s IDNOW point of care diagnostic testing ACCESS via medical policy, coding, and reimbursement through collaboration with key National/Regional payers, KOL’s and other payer ecosystem influencers. The IDNOW products are currently utilized across market segments: health systems, individual hospital and physician office, urgent care, long term care facilities, and retail health with pharmacy emerging as potential site of testing. This individual will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and field resource for their region on Market Access and reimbursement related activities.

Position is remote, can be based in any major city in the US, but ideally based in the Midwest or West.

What You'll Work On

  • Deliver evidence-based healthcare economic and clinical data demonstrating the value of Abbott’s IDNOW testing portfolio to secure access via favorable Medical Policy and Reimbursement.  Account responsibilities include engaging directly with National and Regional payers, State Medicaid, and Lab Benefit Managers.
  • Create and grow widespread relationships with National/Regional payer decision makers while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of assigned managed care accounts, the healthcare system, and market trends.
  • Support field team in resolving provider access issues; coding, policy, and reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with field to Identify clinician advocates (KOLs) to support and further Abbott Rapid Diagnostic initiatives impacting payors, Associations and government policy.
  • Identify partnership opportunities with Abbott’s Government Affairs team to execute individual state Medicaid IDNOW testing point of care access and reimbursement.
  • Attend conferences to gain a better understanding of the healthcare landscape and interact with key decision makers.
  • Understand Abbott’s business model and value proposition, competitive intelligence, and other marketplace factors/dynamics. Along with a strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape.
  • Participate in third party support initiatives with established Abbott partnerships with companies and organizations including CodeMap, leading outside reimbursement law firms, and industry coalition advocating the value of point-of-care (POC) testing. 
  • Communicate effectively and build strong relationship with local sales organizations (Regional Directors) to align on deliverables and needs for the markets for both current and future products.
  • Contribute to the broader organization as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the US Market Access and reimbursement landscape across the broad continuum of sites of care. 
  • Field based position requires someone that collaborates extremely well cross-functionally.  Position will require frequent travel throughout territory.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Seven to ten (7-10) + years of Market Access and/or reimbursement industry experience. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the varied payment models utilized at the sites of care for the IDNOW portfolio.
  • Working knowledge of Market Access concepts and healthcare ecosystem across Health Plan, Lab Benefit manager, Health System, and Physician office
  • Knowledge of clinical and pharmacoeconomic concepts including health outcomes and clinical trial designs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize work effectively, both independently and in group projects, in an evolving environment.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to meaningfully communicate business insights to a broad group of stakeholders through exceptional oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrate exceptional collaboration skills as the role requires regular cross functional initiatives.
  • Strong influencing and project management skills needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs and opportunities while effectively delivering solutions to secure IDNOW testing access.
  • Travel up towards to 50%

  • History in point-of-care (POC) molecular diagnostic platforms and/or medical benefit related products preferred.

The base pay for this position is

$111,300.00 – $222,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
