Introduction
iRobot is looking for a Sr. Manager of Data Science and Data Analytics to lead strategic analytical initiatives. This role will lead and manage highly skilled technical staff to deliver data-driven solutions in support of our products. The ideal candidate is a hands-on data engineering leader, experienced team manager, and great communicator, who is intellectually curious, detail oriented, highly collaborative, and comfortable working closely with individuals across many teams and functions, technology partners, and vendors. You will become a trusted advisor to Product and R&D leadership on product roadmap, performance, and customer experiences, as well as our innovation agenda based on iRobot’s vast historical Home Knowledge Cloud data lake.
What You Will Do:
- Manage a team of data scientists and analysts working on projects across Product and R&D portfolio.
- Lead all aspects of product analytics and data strategy, including identifying data requirements, defining KPIs, dashboarding, launch planning, testing, and measurement frameworks.
- Define best-in-class measurement strategies to evaluate product success and identify improvements.
- Enable data-driven decision making by building reporting capabilities and by generating actionable insights through advanced analytics solutions to enhance product strategy and improve customer experiences.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand key business questions and plan analytic solutions.
- Coach and mentor a large team of highly skilled data scientists and analysts (currently 8 FTEs and 2 contractors)
- Set team vision and optimize team working processes to deliver against goals.
- Lead all aspects of product data science team on scientific and analytical methods, projects, and processes.
- Partner with R&D Data Engineering team on data lifecycle management, data modeling, and data governance processes
- Drive the agenda for data-driven product features that use historical data to personalize user experiences, as well as offer predictive intelligence and job automation.
To Be Successful You Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or a related degree; MBA or Masters in a related field is preferred
- 5+ years team management experience
- 3-5 years years first-hand experience with product research and analysis
- Graduate-level understanding of foundational concepts in data analytics
- Well-versed in SQL and have experience with Python, and BI technologies (Mode Analytics experience desired)
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and ability to execute quality work within tight deadlines.
- Experience leading in fast-paced environments and creating processes that resolve technical challenges
- Experience driving projects and creating impact through pragmatic problem-solving
