Position Purpose:

We are seeking a Sr. Manager of Organizational Development to support a large area of The Home Depot enterprise. If you have experience and expertise that aligns with our Organizational Development Team, we’d love to hear from you!

The Organizational Development Team is a team of internal management consultants that work with senior leaders to streamline the execution of corporate strategy. Our expertise is in:

  • Business transformation through widespread mindset and behavior change
  • Organizational design of structure, processes, rewards, and talent systems
  • Change Integration to support the full integration of changes
  • Session facilitation to lead leaders and teams through a co-designed process that enables maximum effectiveness and efficiency, and highest ROV of time spent

We are:

  • Thought partners serving as critical thought partners to enable leaders to think through organizational solutions, challenging status quo and providing insights to help drive business growth
  • Org design subject matter experts providing insights, expertise and examples on industry leading practices to help THD evolve and grow as the leading retail organization
  • Workforce co-strategists facilitating leadership discussions to create repeatable and sustainable workforce strategies and implementation plans to position THD for the future
  • Change Integration experts utilizing THDs change implementation methodology combined with neuro-science proven tools to develop change strategy playbooks

Skills required for Success:

  • Influence: Persuade and motivate others to support and implement organizational development initiatives. Build trust, demonstrate credibility, and effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution techniques to gain buy-in from stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategy Execution: Facilitate the development and implementation plan of initiatives that align with long-term goals. Understand market trends and business strategies to drive the alignment. Actively participate in the translation of strategies to ensure clarity is high and impact is deep.
  • Analytical: Assess organizational needs, diagnose problems, and measure the impact of development initiatives. Utilize data to make informed decisions and demonstrate the value of interventions.
  • Change Integration: Manage change integration within the organization. Track progress, measure outcomes, and determine whether changes should be fully integrated or discontinued. Use data-driven decisions to ensure successful implementation or timely course correction.
  • Facilitation: Foster an environment that encourages the easy exchange of ideas and seamless collaboration. Guide discussions to ensure all voices are heard and maintain focus on objectives. Effectively manage group dynamics, resolve conflicts, and cultivate a productive and inclusive atmosphere. Drive the group toward making business-critical decisions that align with organizational goals.
  • Communication Skills: Expertly convey complex information and ideas, both verbally and in writing, leveraging advanced visual aids and data visualization techniques to craft compelling narratives that drive alignment, engagement, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 10% Provides leadership, consultation and guidance to the company on organizational development strategies
  • 30% Leads the design and deployment of enterprise-wide development initiatives targeted to senior leaders: Uses business and competitive market insights to identify solutions that ensure organizational development supports business growth strategies
  • 20% Applies change management principles and best practices: Engages in executive-level coaching; manages a cohort of external executives
  • 20% Conducts Leadership and Executive developmental assessments, feedback and action planning
  • 10% Partners with HR Leaders to ensure common approach for: Coaching, Mentoring, and Career Management
  • 10% Provides advice on organizational structure and job design to facilitate change, recruitment and retention goals: Consults and lends expertise to leaders on maximizing team development and effectiveness: Collaborates with HR leaders & business partners to ensure that the delivery of programs is well coordinated and executed

  • Position reports to Director, Organizational Development

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred - with I/O Psychology,
  • Organization Development, Organizational Behavior or related concentration
  • Experience developing and implementing customized organizational development solutions initiatives
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint. Knowledge of Orgvue.

Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a master's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 8

Competencies:

  • A strong sense of urgency, action-orientation, drive for results and pragmatism are a must
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions to address complex organizational challenges
  • Ability to interact effectively with and influence executive leaders
  • Strong business acumen; ability to align organizational development strategies with overall business goals
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; strong facilitation skills
  • Strong project management skills must have ability to initiate project plans and balance multiple changing deadlines and priorities
  • Discretion when handling confidential information
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
