Digital Strategy & Platform
Right along with Target’s distinctive retail brand, we are constantly improving and innovating our digital shopping experience. Are you ready to excel in the fast-changing retail environment? Then you’ll have success on the Digital Strategy & Platform team, whose goal is to offer guests a seamless online shopping experience across our platforms—including Target.com and the store network’s fulfillment capabilities. Here, you’ll collaborate to create and implement the digital strategies that enrich the online experience through the right mix of personalization, simplicity and intuitiveness. Your ideas will support Target in complementing the beloved in-store shopping interaction with a convenient, reliable and instantly gratifying digital experience.

As a Senior Manager, Digital Marketing Strategy you will elevate Target’s beloved experience to the digital shopping experience that achieves aggressive business growth goals. You will lead the development of guest engagement strategies that optimize digital performance, improve conversion, and deliver seamless, joyful shopping experiences. You will lead a team of Site Marketers, leveraging your strong leadership skills to manage a portfolio of top of funnel experiences & initiatives. You are consumer obsessed and will work cross functionally to drive integrated digital engagement strategies, while always evolving for the future. This role requires a strategic digital marketing mindset, reporting & analytical skills complimented by creativity and an eye for trend, strategic activation, team and enterprise leadership. 
 

Core Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution. Develop cohesive digital marketing strategies for sitewide or category experiences and mobilize team to execute those strategies.  Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Category Strategy: Leveraging annual & quarterly priorities cascaded, you’ll be responsible for partnering across a group of partners such as Category Site Merchandising to understand business dynamics and opportunities and develop and prioritize experiences and initiatives to best drive category goals. Senior Managers both set the vision for the category and work with the team to operationalize that vision within their team and across multiple partner teams.
  • Content Strategy. Drive the development of content strategies, partnering with peers across Marketing & Digital to ensure alignment of overall channel strategies. Take business priorities and distill them into guest-centric experiences. Craft briefs to effectively activate creative partners, ensuring content is highly performative while upholding brand and creative integrity.
  • Analytics & Insights. Monitor, understand, and utilize data and key metrics from varied sources (devices and platforms, guest behavior, market trends, and competitive insights) to optimize short-term performance and to inform long-term strategies. Provide insights to partner teams and identify performance opportunities. Leverage data & insights to prioritize actions for your team.
  • Communication: leverage your strong written and verbal communication skills to onboard partners & leaders to your strategies across a broad spectrum of partners including executive leadership in Digital, Merchandising and Marketing.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Embrace a founder's mindset, continuously identify opportunities for innovation in merchandising, technology, and processes to benefit the business, guest & team.
  • Results & Financial Accountability: Maintain a strong sense of accountability for delivering financial results through marketing levers, ensuring strategies align to goals.
  • Team Leadership. Manage team of direct reports, providing development, coaching, motivation, support, and feedback. Promote and model key Target behaviors. Champion diversity and inclusion. Create an atmosphere of teamwork, collaboration, agility, attention to detail, and drive.
  • Cross-Functional Partnerships. Establish strong cross-functional and cross-channel partnerships across Target. Act as a trusted expert & thought partner across the CFTs you lead & participate in.

About you:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years e-commerce experience
  • Deep business acumen with an entrepreneurial, revenue-generating mindset
  • Must have both strong technical acumen and a creative sensibility
  • Excellent understanding of mass merchandising, retail, e-commerce and multi-channel retailing
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and cross-functional influence, planning and execution
  • High level of initiative and organization, with the ability to manage ambiguity, risk, uncertainty and changing directions
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, with a personal interest in development
  • Must have passion for the art & science: strong technical acumen & creative sensibilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to varying levels of leadership

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
