Description

We're collecting lots of data and our scientists and manufacturing teams need easy access to that data through a single pane of glass to design the World’s best batteries.  As the leader of data systems you will be focused on building, integrating, and utilizing software tools to analyze large collections of cell performance and meta-data.  You will create data pipelines that help bring that data together into a central data platform and do it in such a way that enables everyone at the company to make data-driven decisions easily. Imagine how much more powerful engineers and scientists can be if they can just look at how the data is laid out and make decisions without having to reach out to a data analyst to bring the data together into dashboards for them. This position will offer hands-on, fast paced work on a growing team that has a shared passion to change the energy storage landscape.


Responsibilities

  • Develop system architecture for battery analytics data platform
  • Integrate data collection and analysis software tools to identify relationships between battery performance with meta data (cell composition, material information, quality control, process parameters, etc.)
  • Craft automated analysis scripts to extract key performance indicators from battery test data 
  • Enable self service use of data platform by scientists and engineers
  • Integrate analysis scripts with standard computational packages
  • Generate interactive plots and data visualization of battery data 
  • Understand test standards, battery design, test setup, and key performance indicators 
  • Build out documentation to enable other engineers to perform customized analyses 
  • Version control analysis scripts and reports 
  • Develop and submit intellectual property


Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or similar field
  • 5-10+ years of work experience
  • Proficiency in Python, R, C++, and/or other programming languages
  • Experience leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud platforms for data analytics
  • Experience connecting lab instruments and process equipment over a network
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and experience working with team members to overcome technical challenges
  • Appreciation for and adherence to lab and work safety policies

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD/MS in Computer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or similar field
  • 5-10+ years of work experience in the lithium-ion battery industry
  • Prior experience applying programming tools to analyze lithium-ion battery cell performance data
  • Experience with database development and data analysis using SQL
  • Experience using statistical data analysis software like JMP and Minitab
