McKesson Medical-Surgical (MMS) is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications to join the team in Richmond, VA. Reporting to the Director, Communications, this newly-created role will entail internal and external communications strategy and execution, stakeholder management, and advising executive leaders on communications strategies.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for reputation management, media relations, crisis/issues communications and internal communications in support of McKesson’s Medical-Surgical (MMS) division

Researches, writes and develops multiple communications, including but not limited to, talking points/FAQs, org announcements, internal newsletters, human-interest stories and press releases

Manages several internal communications channels, including an Intranet site, digital signage, printed materials and newsletters

Develops and executes social media strategies on behalf of MMS and its executives, including creation and management of social media content and engagement with followers

Contributes to the design and execution of leadership meetings and other company events, including preparation of executive presentations and talking points

Serves as a strategic advisor to members of the MMS Executive Leadership Team, providing counsel and recommendations on internal and external communications

Integrates communications from multiple sources (e.g., MMS leadership, McKesson corporate, other MMS business functions) into a unified communication approach that supports our mission and enhances our reputation among a variety of internal and external audiences

Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks, sets goals and measures the success of internal and external communications initiatives

Other communications-related projects, as assigned
Minimum Requirements
-
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of broad communications experience across a wide range of disciplines, including media relations, internal communications, digital communications and data/reporting
Critical Skills
-
Demonstrated experience in media relations and issues/crisis communications, including message and strategy development
-
Demonstrated experience in leading complex internal communications initiatives
-
Demonstrated experience in project management and special events (e.g., employee town halls, leader presentations, etc.)
-
Outstanding writing, proofreading and strategic communication planning skills
-
Experience working with AI tools to support development of communication-related deliverables
-
Self-directed and able to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
-
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
-
Ability to act as a mentor/advisor to other Comms/Events team members
-
Executive maturity to collaborate and influence decision making at all levels of the organization
Additional Skills

Executive coaching and media training experience

Large-scale event management/production capabilities
Education
-
4-year degree in communications, journalism, business or a related degree

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
