Meet the team:
The Dexcom R&D Electronics Team is a group of highly motivated and talented engineers with a wide range of experience and talents. This team designs high volume medical wearables, so our focuses are on high volume, low power, battery operated, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication, pico-Amp sensing technologies that meet the high bar of medical device standards. Our team supports existing commercial Dexcom products, iteratively develops improvements to currently available products, as well research and develop new technologies and sensors to broaden our reach within the Diabetes market space.
Where you come in:

Batteries are a critical component to the design; you will be required to collaborate within R&D Electronics Team to evaluate electronics designs and define requirements and test methods for battery vendors.

You will need to demonstrate expertise in battery characterization methods. Special considerations for long term storage as well as high/low drain applications and evaluation methods.

You are responsible for supporting characterization and design verification activities for existing products as well as new battery vendors and battery technologies.

You are responsible for defining and reporting out on plans and analysis results to cross functional teams.

You will work tightly with Operations, Supply chain teams and Complaints teams to resolve issues as they arise.

You will contribute to risk analysis pertaining to the battery.

You will work with Vendors and Dexcom Quality to ensure high quality product as well as communicate Dexcom specific requirements.
What makes you successful:

What makes you successful would be having prior experience with battery chemistries, their limitations and potential for enhancements.

What makes you successful is having experience using battery test equipment, current profiling equipment and must be able to analyze the results and provide concise assessments to cross functional teams.

What makes you successful is having knowledge of manufacturing conditions and potential impact to batteries (Temp, harsh processes etc…)

You must be an excellent communicator both verbally and in written form.

Ideally you have medical device development experience.

Ideally you have minimum of 4years of low power, battery development experience.

Ideally you have experience in design-for-reliability (DFR), design-for-test (DFT), design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-cost (DFC) practices for very high-volume products.

Experience and Education Requirements:
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5- 8 years related experience or Master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.
