Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant

This is a Hybrid role that requires you to be in the office 2-3 times a week. The office is currently located in Waltham, but will be moving to downtown Boston in Spring 2025.

MISSION 

Alegeus seeks a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join their dedicated, passionate team of professionals. This position will directly contribute to both day-to-day responsibilities and projects in the Accounting department, with a focus on month-end close, financial reporting, and technical accounting processes. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Perform month-end close duties in accordance with the close calendar including preparation and/or review of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. 

• Assist in the preparation of flux analyses, including research and summarization of period over period activity. 

• Investigate unusual or unexpected data and ensure appropriate action is taken for specific assigned accounts. 

• Prepare annual consolidated GAAP financial statements and supporting schedules. 

• Assist with technical accounting analyses and calculations, including preparation of technical accounting memos (i.e. stock-based compensation, ASC 842 lease accounting, software capitalization, etc.). 

• Perform and document monthly and quarterly internal control activities and provide testing support to Internal Audit. 

• Research accounting rules and regulations as required for external reporting. 

• Assist with monthly consolidation process.

• Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate accuracy of financial reporting systems/data. 

• Participate in ad hoc financial and operational analysis and continuous quality improvement initiatives. 

• Assist in providing support to the auditors, tax group, and other stakeholders as needed. 

• Assist in special projects. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• CPA required. 

• 4+ years’ experience in a combination of a Public Accounting Firm and subsequent work in an Accounting department. 

• Experience in Big 4 Assurance / Audit practice strongly preferred. 

• Workday experience preferred. 

• Experience in a Software or Software as a Service (SaaS) company or FinTech company preferred.
