JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Associate provides oversight in key risk identification, assessment, and mitigation of non-financial risk: IT, Strategic, Operational, Reputational, Regulatory. The incumbent clearly explains risk concepts to others and accurately communicates the company’s risk levels and key metrics using visual reports. They regularly present status to various levels of management. Works with all risk disciplines across the company, including compliance and internal audit to ensure coverage and effectiveness of risk activities. Manages the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program and is involved in other projects as they arise to mitigate risks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies risk across the non-financial risk pillars and works with risk owners to document descriptions, assessments, status, and control effectiveness.
  • Tests non-financial controls; provides recommendations for improvement; manages issue status tracking.
  • Prepares reporting for management and ERM Committee.
  • Collects and monitors KRIs and ensures ongoing proper tracking of relevant metrics.
  • Builds relationships with all areas of the organization to ensure risk presence and consideration in new and ongoing initiatives.
  • Responsible for facilitating the ongoing assessment of model risk and completeness and accuracy of the model inventory.
  • Subject matter expert on the Third Party Risk tool and governance processes.
  • Facilitates ongoing TPRM program improvement and ensures all aspects of the program are running smoothly and effectively.
  • Tracks third party due diligence responses, and facilitates timely management of risks across all risk disciplines: information security, legal, compliance, data management, and procurement
  • Produces TPRM reporting including statuses, risks, and effectiveness & maturity of the program.
  • Leads the Business Continuity & Recovery (BCR) Department Plan updates, including tabletop exercises and identification of gaps, ensuring plan details are appropriately reflected in the enterprise BCR plan.
  • Assists other ERM teams: Investment risk and Insurance risk when needed.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None required for this position.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of Risk Management, Financial Controls, Insurance, or similar type role.
  • Experience in a life, annuity, and/or PRT company preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

Desired Certifications:

Risk Management: Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA)

Insurance: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of laws, rules and regulations impacting the insurance industry.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize projects and manage the time to complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • Problem Solver; Confident in challenging the status quo; Strategic thinker; Attention to detail
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite skills to produce clear and eye appealing reports utilizing data collected
  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members and management as well as ability to effectively present information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to learn various tools quickly and understand high level concepts after a brief demo of tools across the organization.
  • Adherence to critical deadlines, and prompt attention and service to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work and lead cross-functionally on projects with various departments: Information Security, Compliance, Legal, Procurement, Data Management, Financial Controls, Accounting, and many others – as well as external partners such as vendors and consultants.
