About team: The Network Release Engineering team is a global organization that will be focused on enabling scalable, resilient, and efficient network hardware, configuration, and software deployments across Network Engineering. As a Senior Engineering Manager for Network Release Engineering, you will take the lead in growing this new Network team. You will drive best practices and ensure development of high-quality solutions/technologies through advocating and ensuring standards for common assets and framework components.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the technology decisions that enable the business plan and will manage an engineering team in an agile environment. You will be responsible for providing guidance to engineers and making relevant technology solution decisions related to complex and/or new wave technology products. The key to success in this position is having a strong and innovative approach to problem solving, a focus on inclusivity, great technical leadership, excellent communication, flexibility, and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail. This role will require you to be hands-on on with technology and you will be expected to do design/development of highly scalable systems while leading the engineering team.

  • Recruit and retain the diverse technical talent necessary to deliver the vision of Network Release Engineering.
  • Develop and maintain the long-term strategy for the core mission of Network Release Engineering including organization, tools, processes, and data.
  • Drive product development and operations with engineers and drive technical decision adhering to Target platform architecture and other enterprise decisions. You will have a strong focus on team management and development, collaborate with partner teams, coach engineers to move through roadmaps and follow engineering best practices.
  • Drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, build and deployment and managing overall software development cycle by adhering to development and security standards.
  • Establish good stakeholder communication, work closely with Product teams to influence the development of product roadmaps, and help drive requirements while being a strong advocate of agile and DevOps practices.
  • Build and manage a team of high performing full stack engineers. Provide leadership, coaching, motivation, recommend staffing levels, operating procedures, tools and systems for the team.
  • Act as an escalation point for on-call support of systems owned and managed by the team.
  • Provide career development and performance management to a team of high-performing engineers.

About you:

  • 4-year degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of network engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • 1-3 years of managing teams with a strong track-record of delivery for cross-functional products.
  • Expertise in Network technologies, tools, and practices.
  • Expertise in 2 or more of the programming languages with at least one being python.
  • Experience with integration, version control (e.g. Git) data handling technologies (e.g. Postgres, elastic, kafka), reporting/analytics technologies (e.g. Kibana, Grafana, Domo), and other open-source frameworks.
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, etc.) including continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
  • Experience operating medium to large scale systems.
  • Experience interacting with and managing vendor relations.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Experience with test-driven development and software test automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to variety of audiences.
  • Strong sense of ownership and problem-solving skills
