Job Responsibilities:
Magna is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the New Mobility group in Lowell, Massachusetts. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electrical and electronic systems for our Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to create robust and high-performance robotic solutions. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical architectures for autonomous mobile robots.
- Design and integrate power distribution, motor control, sensor interfaces, and communication systems.
- Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and oversee the fabrication and assembly of electrical components.
- Evaluate and select electrical components, including microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators.
- Work with firmware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and control systems
- Optimize cost, weight, modularity, and scalability.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Experience.
- 6+ years' relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of motor control systems, power electronics, and embedded hardware design
- Experience with Altium or similar ECAD tool for PCBA and/or harness design
- Experience with communication protocols like CAN, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating actuators and motor controllers
- Experience integrating various sensors (e.g. lidar, cameras, etc.)
- Hands-on experience in wiring and harnessing (e.g. IPC/WHMA-A-620).
