The Purpose:
As the Senior Director of User Experience Engineering (UXE), you will lead and mentor a team of skilled UX engineers, guiding them in creating user-centric, high-quality interfaces that delight our users. You will work closely with design, product management, and backend teams to ensure that our digital products are not only functional but also intuitive and visually appealing. Your leadership will be pivotal in setting the direction for UX engineering, optimizing performance, and fostering innovation across both web and mobile platforms.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership to a multidisciplinary team of engineers, specializing in PHP, Vue.js, native iOS, and Android development.
- Define and drive the UI/UX engineering strategy, aligning it with overall business and product goals.
- Champion a user-centric approach to design and development, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of usability and visual appeal.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, product managers, and design teams to prioritize UI/UX initiatives and ensure their successful execution.
- Technical Direction:
- Lead the development of high-quality, responsive web applications using Vue.js, ensuring robust performance and seamless user interactions.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of native mobile applications for iOS and Android, ensuring consistency and excellence across all platforms.
- Advocate for and implement best practices in code quality, performance optimization, and accessibility.
- Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and trends in web and mobile development, and guide the team in adopting the most effective tools and frameworks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure that creative visions are translated into functional, intuitive interfaces.
- Partner with product management to strike the right balance between user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.
- Quality Assurance & Performance:
- Ensure that all UI/UX components are optimized for performance, scalability, and cross-platform compatibility.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the quality and impact of UI/UX initiatives.
- Lead rigorous code reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Team Development & Mentorship:
- Mentor and develop the UX engineering team, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment where creativity and technical excellence thrive.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top talent in UX engineering to build a high-performing team.
What We’re Looking For:
- Leadership & Communication:
- Passion for user experience and design, with a commitment to excellence in every aspect of the user interface.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of leading cross-functional teams and engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Strategic problem-solving abilities, with a track record of navigating complex technical and organizational challenges.
- Technical Expertise:
- Expertise in Vue.js, including familiarity with its ecosystem such as Vuex, Vue Router, and Nuxt.js.
- Extensive experience in native iOS development (Swift) and native Android development (Kotlin/Java), including experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Strong knowledge of integrating design systems, ensuring responsive, accessible, and high-performance UIs.
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines tailored to both web and mobile development.
- Experience:
- A proven track record of delivering exceptional user experiences through innovative web and mobile applications.
- 10+ years of experience in front-end and mobile engineering, with significant experience in Vue.js and native iOS/Android development.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring engineering teams at scale.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree is a plus.
LOCATION: San Mateo, CA or Las Vegas, NV
Flexible hybrid schedule visiting our San Mateo or Las Vegas office three days a week (Tues-Thurs).
