The Senior Director of Engineering, Ecommerce is a highly experienced and accomplished technology leader responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers to implement cutting-edge technology solutions at a rapid pace. The Sr. Director of Engineering will also be responsible for building a performant team by hiring, performance managing, coaching, and mentoring the team.

Primary Duties (Identified Essential Functions*)

  • Team Management* - Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, coaching, and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Oversight* – Provide technical guidance and decision-making across all Ecommerce engineering projects, including the progressive migration of a jQuery-based front-end to a modern composable architecture.
  • Collaboration* - Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the technical solutions align with business objectives, customer needs, and other relevant stakeholder goals and standards.
  • Process Improvement* - Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, particularly Agile methodologies, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of high-quality solutions and software releases.
  • Innovation and Continues Learning* - Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to incorporate new tools and techniques that enhance both the team and the Ecommerce experience.
  • Budget and Vendor Management* - Manage the technology budget and vendor relationships*
  • Risk Management* - Work with team members to identify and mitigate risks and disruption associated with the Ecommerce platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and security with minimal friction in the customer experience.
  • Project Governance and Communication* - Ensure that all project stakeholders are kept informed, projects are completed on time and within budget, and that the highest quality standards are met.
  • Performance Metrics* - Establish and monitor KPIs to assess the performance of the engineering teams and use data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities assigned as necessary.

Required General Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Experience with ecommerce platform management, Salesforce or headless commerce platforms preferred
  • Strong understanding of modern Ecommerce stack architectures, engineering practices, and performance, reliability, and security in web and mobile-web development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms
  • Experience with DevOps practices
  • Experience with stakeholder management and project development methodologies
  • Experience with budget management and technology vendor management

Education & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on ecommerce
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred
