Tasks and Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities (Problem Solving, Critical Thinking):

  • In conjunction with Product Managers and Engineering Leadership, develops the PLC Software technology vision, strategies, critical success factors and operating plans.
  • Applies deep domain knowledge to help support the PLC SW organization, provides technical leadership, and guidance in the organizational operations.
  • Initiates and fosters collaborative partnerships with product management, GPE, peer R&D groups and commissioning teams; develops relationships that promote trust and increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drives controls software vision with a focus on best in class controls software delivery consistent with Dematic’s strategic objectives.
  • Determines and manages resource strategy consistent with the budget and needs of the department.(FTE, skills needed, depth of experience, internal and external staffing mix)
  • Drives engineering teams for engineering excellence, focusing on quality and speed to market.
  • Supports managers in addressing or escalating issues to make the overall team more efficient.
  • Removes roadblocks and obstacles; manages interdependencies when needed.
  • Coordinates and delivers performance reviews and drives professional development, including mentoring, rotations, and special assignments.
  • Leads the strategy for design, implementation, operation, and optimization of SCS Global Controls Software.
  • Collaborate with GPE and CoE team leaders to re-establish the Global PLC SW Code definition, architecture, and process for code changes in order to prevent code re-writing and to drive a more efficient global process.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the PCL SW team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the team to develop secure, high-quality prototype and production code, and review and debug code written by others.
  • Develop and contribute to a great team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent to build and maintain a high-performing and motivated team.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources according to business priorities. Optimizing resource utilization to balance short-term needs with long-term platform growth an sustainability is essential.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of PLC Global Code, minimizing downtime and technical debt.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline is required.

Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of leadership experience and success in PLC automation technology and software development; with a strong understanding of controls theory an experience applying it practiclly to process control systems.
  • Experience in agile development leadership and project execution
  • Functions as a change agent by demonstrating past successes driving and managing change within development teams.
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.
  • Strong relationship building, interpersonal skills, and collaboration.
  • Hands-on attitude, with a willingness to contribute at all levels.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $175,000.00 - $250,000.00 at the time of posting and will be eligible for incentive compensation in accordance with company practices. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
