Job summary:
The IT Investment Solutions Group at HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) is looking for a highly skilled individual to fill a fulltime Senior DevOps Engineer role for our IT for Investments Infrastructure team. This role focus on cloud system administration enabling solutions holistically supporting HOOPP Investment, Finance and Risk Management groups.
The IT Investment Solutions Group’s principles focus on delivering true customer value in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work closely with Enterprise Architects, Project Management Office and Governance, Information Security and partner Infrastructure team Product Owners and PMs to ensure the cloud system operations and projects meet all organizational objectives.
As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to support the organization's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud technologies, a strong background in DevOps practices, and a passion for automation and innovation.
What you will do:

Utilize your in-depth knowledge and expertise in designing, deploying, and managing scalable, reliable, and automated cloud infrastructure solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS and Snowflake.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS cloud environments to ensure performance, security, and cost-efficiency.

Independently leads key initiatives that require interfacing with internal customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design, plan and implement reliable and secure solutions that meet customer and stakeholder requirements.

Collaborate with development and cross IT functional teams to integrate and optimize cloud-based applications.

Develop and maintain automated processes for cloud provisioning configuration, and management.

Create and maintain documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, and processes.
-
Develop and maintain automated processes for cloud provisioning, configuration, and management, particularly within the AWS and Snowflake environment.

Support Product Owner and design systems to eliminate or reduce manual effort and complexity through automation and Infrastructure as Code practices.

Possesses expert cloud system administration, containerization knowledge with the ability to independently implement complex solutions from end-to-end, troubleshoot and resolve problems.

Combine conceptual and practical expertise in the areas of cloud infrastructure, IT architecture, scripting, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD), build automation, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediation following best practices and architecture framework.

Stay updated emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Provide technical support, triage, prioritize, track, and resolve production problems and operational issues; use analytical thinking, tools, and judgement to identify root causes and long-term solutions.

Participate in on-call rotation to provide support outside regular working hours.

Strengthen security posture by responding to security incidents and enforce information security best practices.

Mentor junior colleagues and invests time to grow individuals in a technical capacity; acts as a subject matter expert to guide and share knowledge across departmental teams.

What you bring:
-
6+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Operations and/or Software Development with a focus on system administration and automation
-
Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure Cloud Platform and Snowflake, with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

In-depth experience with current server operating systems such as Windows Server 2019+ and Linux.

Strong knowledge and proficiency with Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, etc.
-
Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, data protection strategies, with expertise in implementing best practices for securing cloud infrastructure.

Ability to perform deep technical analysis and troubleshooting of systems and performance issues as it relates to OS configuration or cloud infrastructure.

Familiarity and practical hands-on expertise with scripting and using languages such as Bash, PowerShell and Python to automate repetitive and administrative tasks.

Experience in vulnerability and patch management.

Knowledge and experience with CI/CD tooling.

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively to develop resolutions

Ability (and desire) to work in a high-performing team culture, with an openness to constantly evolving and changing priorities, and new challenges.

Relevant certifications would be an asset.
