Job Description

The Opportunity: 

The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing an environment that promotes the fulfillment of Privacy Office requirements and procedures for internal Mattel stakeholders and external vendors. This individual will primarily perform privacy compliance related tasks using TrustArc, ensuring adherence to data protection regulations in both US and globally, and collaborating with Legal Privacy and cross functional teams. Additionally, the individual will assist in project review and assessment analysis, as well as help to identify areas of improvement in existing Privacy processes, and work with the Privacy Team to find solutions. 

What Your Impact Will Be: 

• Oversees and optimizes the use of the privacy technology platform, TrustArc for global compliance automation, assessments, and reporting 

• Executes the process of Mattel Privacy data subject access rights (DSAR) request portal, and Do Not Sell My Personal Information requests, ensuring fulfillment of all consumer individual rights requests for GDPR/CCPA and similar data privacy regulation compliance

• In depth mastery of TrustArc, in order to manage the issuance, tracking, and completion of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and Vendor Due Diligence (VDD) assessments

• Supports Privacy assessment reviews, via preliminary analysis of PIAs and VDDs, i.e. identifying risks involving the collection, access, use, and storage of personal and/or sensitive information, presenting those results and risks to the Privacy team, and driving remediation efforts

• Working with international DPOs and US privacy teams  on Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs)

• Manages Privacy Office group inboxes, including intake Privacy review & assessment requests, document corresponding assessment artifacts, and respond to internal and external inquiries for information and direction on Privacy processes/requirements

• Helps perform work related to Mattel’s safe harbor certification program for COPPA and privacy compliance seals for all Mattel websites, mobile apps, and products. This includes working with internal business groups on remediating found compliance issues where required.

• Works with legal, IT, security, and business teams to ensure privacy by design in websites, apps, products, and processes

• Assesses existing and develops new privacy business processes to streamline workflow. Documents these processes and socializes them with relevant stakeholders company wide. 

• Produces weekly status reports detailing accomplishments, project/program risks, challenges, and additional developments for Director, Data Privacy and the broader Privacy team

• Produces periodic reports on new and changing privacy regulations to assess how Mattel will be impacted and proposes corrective action plans.

• Assists in further development of the Mattel Privacy Framework, including developing additional privacy controls and key areas of focus

• Leads and manages the finalization of privacy and data handling Policies and Standards for the Company

• Supports contract negotiations, audits, regulatory inquiries, and data breach response efforts

• Leads effort in creating organizational Privacy training content, as well as planning instructor led-events and webinars. Conducts and promotes Privacy training and awareness to the workforce.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• PMP or equivalent Project management certification(s)

• 3+ years of project/program management experience, preferably in Information Technology, with the ability to apply project management principles and critical thinking to a Data Privacy & Protection objective

• 3+ years of Data Privacy, Data Protection, and/or Data Governance (from a Compliance perspective) experience

• Extremely strong Microsoft Outlook skills. Will need to manage multiple email inboxes and calendars to ensure Director, Data Privacy and other stakeholders are informed on product and project deadlines and meetings

• Extremely strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills. Will need to produce reports that highlight issues and capture status in a succinct but visually appealing way

• Extremely strong Microsoft Excel skills. Will need to produce graphs, charts, and other graphical representations of complex data sets, as well as track projects & tasks. Ex. Gantt Charts, Pareto Charts, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), etc.

• Proficiency in other Microsoft Office365 applications—Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Visio is essential for communication and project tasks

• Independent, organized, and self-motivated, with the ability to operate autonomously but also take direction

• Strong organizational skills, possessing keen attention to detail in order to spot issues, track them for continued awareness, and escalate appropriately

• Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to understand the intended audience in order to communicate effectively

• Exhibits strong critical/analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Exhibits diplomatic skills than can foster collaborative relationships across Mattel in order to deliver results

• High ethical standards, operating with integrity and professionalism

• Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines & strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork

• Knowledgeable of Privacy platforms such as TrustArc, OneTrust

The annual base salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $130,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience. Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, comprehensive benefits, and resources to help empower a culture where every employee can reach their full potential.
