Position Summary
The Senior Data Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and automating solutions for managing and optimizing databases within an organization. This role combines expertise in DB2 LUW (Linux, Unix, and Windows) database management system, programming, and automation to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of database systems. In this role the Senior Data Platform Engineer will collaborate with software development teams to integrate database automation processes into the software development cycle.
The Senior Data Platform Engineer will keep up to date with the latest industry trends and advancement in database automation technologies. They will also provide 24/7 support on DB2 LUW database systems in an on call rotation & support off hours and weekend deployments and tasks when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and network engineers
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of production databases through effective automation strategies and monitoring techniques
- Conduct regular performance analysis and capacity planning to optimize database resources
- Document database process, procedures, and configuration to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance with organization standards
- Implement and maintain database automation frameworks, tools, and scrips to streamline database operations and enhance efficiency
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the database environment and propose innovative solutions
- Research and remediate database vulnerabilities, audit, compliance, and access reviews.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a DB2 LUW Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar role, with a focus on database concepts, principles, backup, recovery, deployments, best practices, and automation
- 4+ years’ experience in design and solution engineering across cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS) and on-prem infrastructure
- 4+ years’ experience with HADR technologies like Q Replication, Clustering, TSAMP and/or Pacemaker
- 3+ years of proficiency in scripting languages like Ansible, Terraform, etc. for automation tasks
- 3+ years of experience with database automation frameworks and tools like Octopus, Jenkins, Flyway, GitHub Actions
- 3+ years of experience with DPF, Golden Gate
- 2+ years of experience with source code management tools like GitHub and GitHub EMU
- 2+ years of experience with CICD tools and methodology
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SCT, and/or DMS
- Thorough understanding of database architecture, replication, and high availability concepts
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, AWS RDS, AWS Aurora, etc.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively though collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality database automation solutions
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$92,700.00 - $222,480.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
