Information Governance Sr Data Analyst will support data discovery and classification. The position is a critical resource on the Global Information Systems (GIS) Information Governance and Quality team for project implementation and ongoing support of Illumina’s data classification and categorization processes. In partnership with the Legal Privacy, Cybersecurity, Data Governance, and GIS teams this assignment will take responsibility for the inventory and classification of key data assets. Both structured and unstructured data sources will be interrogated to capture a complete inventory of the specific assets, classifying them in conjunction with our classification schema and building repeatable processes to ensure appropriate attestation and handling of the data is in place. The role will be required to work closely with Information Governance Data Analyst position.
Responsibilities:
Implement workflows to collect, connect, and interpret source to leverage for discovery, classification, lineage, and auditing.
- Evaluate and capture a complete inventory of the specific assets, classifying them in conjunction with our classification schema and building repeatable processes to ensure appropriate attestation and handling of the data is in place.
Analysis and classification of structured and unstructured data assets.
- Develop and support information governance policies and processes in collaboration with business and technical teams that are aligned with business goals.
- Support information classification and processes for regulatory audits and efficiency improvements in collaboration with stakeholders.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architect and work in a techno-functional capacity leveraging currently installed data discovery, cataloging and governance tools.
- Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations. Support the unstructured data discovery tool, its technical management, and expansion of its use.
- Driving adoption of standards and proven data governance mechanisms and extend to data collection, data processing, data analytics, data privacy and data retention processes.
Ensure information assets are properly managed and governed and work across teams to resolve technical and process issues.
- Experience in all stages of data discovery, curation, classification, categorization, lineage, and tagging required.
Work closely with Information Governance Data Analyst to divide the workload.
- Tracking all scanning requirements from different sources and assigning workload to Information Data Analyst.
- Informatica Axon Data Governance Tool; Workflows, Policies and Processes, and knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations; Data Architecture, Data Discovery, Data Classification, Data Cataloging, Data Analytics and Data Retention Policies and Processes; and Analysis and classification of structured and unstructured data assets.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, data preparation, data classification, PII, PHI, FDA, GDPR.
- Experience in Informatica, HANA, Snowflake, and data analytics/ Data visualization tools such as Tableau, Cognos Analytics, Denodo, ServiceNow etc.
- Strong experience in all stages of data discovery, classification, categorization and tagging required.
- Application administration and troubleshooting; Strong understanding of databases and database structures and connecting to databases/data sources.
- Understand and demonstrate experience working with semi-structured and unstructured data at Terabyte scale.
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environment, manage multiple competing priorities and business partners.
- Proficient working with business and technical stakeholders to enable networking crawling solutions, ediscovery, and/or data and file cataloging solutions.
- Proficient working with business and technical stakeholders to support data classification at scale.
- Experience with Machine Learning and Advanced analytics.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate technical issues and solutions to business partners, verbally and written across all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities.
- Leading and assigning workload to Information Governance Data Analyst.
Education
- BA or BS in complementary field of study. Experience may offset education requirement. Data privacy, data discovery, catalog, or lineage experience required.
