The Opportunity

This position works out of our San Diego, CA location in the Infectious Disease Group. 

The position of Sr. Connectivity Engineer is within our Infectious Disease business unit located at the Towne Centre site in San Diego, California.  This role will be responsible for supporting connectivity and interoperability solutions for both on market projects. This includes handling field investigations related to connectivity, leading the integration testing of our interconnected devices including IOT, mobile device, on premise server and cloud solutions. This is Level 3 connectivity support within R&D. Will be working closely with Level 1 and Level 2 support to resolve customer issues connecting medical devices to the cloud.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Good understanding of the TCP/IP. HTTPS, TLS.
  • Good understanding of the Firewalls/Proxy server setups.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of connectivity and device interoperability to the completion of complex assignments, using advanced knowledge of the organization’s technologies and practices.
  • Identify key barriers/core problems and apply problem-solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems, and make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Use strong technical abilities and able to suggest multiple solutions to problems.
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships
  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
  • Experience with analyzing device logs.
  • Knowledge of the Cybersecurity of the Cloud is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Medical Devices is a plus.
  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences that may occur from the improper performance of the products.
  • Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in systems involving connected devices.
  • Bachelor of Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience (MS preferred).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with communications: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, TCP/IP, communication stacks.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud solutions (Log Analytics; Application Insight; Web Application Firewall and etc.).
  • Experience with Linux systems.
  • Good understanding of the networking tools such as telnet, ping, nslookup, and etc.
  • Experience testing communication interfaces between devices on both wired and wireless networks.
  • Understanding of healthcare communication protocols (e.g. ASTM, HL7, POCT1A, FHIR) is plus.
  • Experience with network protocols, integration and integration testing, and cybersecurity
  • Understanding of Medical Device regulations (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, 21 CFR part 820.30-Design Controls, FDA SW Guidelines…).
  • Experience with Integration Frameworks such as (Mulesoft, Apache Camel or equivalent).
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Good understanding of the TLS\HTTPS REST\SOAP protocols.
  • Good understanding of OAuth 2.0\Open ID Connect protocols.
  • Good understanding of the HIPAA regulation.
  • Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams across time zones.

The base pay for this position is

$86,700.00 – $173,300.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
