Organization Overview:
The purpose of the Portfolio Manager role is to help the company balance Tech@Lilly investments across existing and planned products, projects, programs, and services. The Portfolio Manager role is expected to improve the transparency of an area’s portfolio of products, projects and services and improve decision-making around technology investments. Resulting decisions should balance risk, value, and capacity.
A Portfolio Manager is responsible for aligning an organization’s investment decisions and commitments to an organization’s strategic objectives. The Portfolio Manager partners with key business leaders, providing supporting data that significantly influences strategic investments & outcomes.
This position will report to the Tech@Lilly Manager of Portfolio and Business Operations, and will be responsible for supporting a Global Business Area within Tech@Lilly; working closely with the Portfolio Management team to support the needs of multiple areas which requires direct interactions with Senior Leadership and associated Leadership Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordination, collection and aggregation of all portfolio related data from various data sources (SAP, HR SAD, Workday, CMDB, SQL Database, Excel, etc.)
- Responsible for gaining the trust of the Leadership Team, becoming a key member that provides both guidance and helps influence decisions around the overall portfolio
- Drive all aspects of the Tech@Lilly Portfolio (Financials, Resources, Projects, Programs, etc…) and make those outcomes visible and consumable to the entire Organization.
- Partner closely with other Global Service functions like HR and Finance to ensure Tech@Lilly is in-line with all processes and policies set at the corporate level.
- Responsible for managing the quality of large amounts of raw data and being able to quickly manipulate / format the data so it can be easily consumed throughout all layers of the organization
- Responsible for coordination and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, annual portfolio activities for Global Tech@Lilly Business Operations.
- Responsible for collection of metrics, aggregation of financial data sources, and reporting for financial portfolio management.
- Be a champion for the Global Tech@Lilly portfolio management tools and processes and influence future enhancements to promote continuous improvement
- Partners with the Business Operations Tools Team to develop new and enhance existing tools and processes to enable the development of all portfolio deliverables including Business Plan and Monthly Operations.
- In partnership with finance, serve the Tech@Lilly Sr. Leadership by executing the global processes for tracking and managing fiscal expenditures and human resources allocations.
- In partnership with Tech@Lilly Sr. Leadership, facilitate IDS business planning process, including global investment decisions for the coming year, and the on-going tracking and management against those plans throughout the year.
- Assist in content development of annual corporate deliverables, including write-ups and presentation materials for corporate Business Plan, Business Area Objectives, Business Area Accomplishments, Future Investment Strategies, etc..
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in IT or Finance related field
- Strong skills in leadership/influence, planning/organization, and communication.
- Understanding of Product/Project Management and/or Agile Development principles.
- Experience with Tech@Lilly standard tools/technologies (examples: Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, PowerBI)
- Ability to translate complex, ambiguous assignments into actionable plans and tasks

- Ability to influence Leadership utilizing data-based rationalization and communication
- Strong planning and organizing skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and promote a “Team Lilly” environment
