This role is ideal for a proactive professional with a strong accounting background, proven experience in public accounting or public companies, and a desire to leverage automation to drive efficiency. SaaS or tech industry experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Contract Reviews: Analyze sales contracts to identify revenue implications, ensure alignment with company policies and ASC 606 standards, and collaborate with Deal Desk and Sales teams to address any contractual issues.
  • Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606, partnering with cross-functional teams to review sales transactions, analyze contracts, and implement necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • General Ledger Oversight: Oversee the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, adjustments, and alignment between sub-ledger and external systems (e.g., Tableau, Metabase).
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements with variance analysis, ensuring accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and actionable insights to improve business performance.
  • Commission Calculations: Calculate and review sales commissions, ensuring accuracy and timely payouts. Provide insights into commission-related expenses and identify potential cost-saving measures.
  • Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, preparing audit schedules, and implementing recommendations to strengthen internal controls and improve audit readiness.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Lead process improvement initiatives, including automating key accounting workflows (e.g., revenue schedules, month-end close) to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and audit readiness. Leverage ERP systems like NetSuite to reduce manual processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with IT, FP&A, and data teams to resolve reconciliation issues, align sub-ledger data with accounting records, and ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a Senior Accountant role.
  • Experience in public accounting or working at publicly traded companies is mandatory.
  • Expertise in revenue recognition (ASC 606), month-end close, GL accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) and familiarity with financial data tools.
