The Sports Partnership Account Executive at WFAA/KFAA plays a critical role in driving revenue growth through strategic partnerships with major sports franchises such as the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Wings, as well as other marquee sports properties including NBA and SEC Football.
This position demands a dynamic, results-driven professional who can exceed sales goals across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms (including OTT via PREMION). Acting as both a lead generator and marketing consultant, the Account Executive will prospect and close new business while upselling existing clients through custom, insights-driven campaigns that align with client objectives.
A key part of the role involves creating impactful multi-platform proposals, leveraging CRM systems to manage pipeline and performance, and collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure flawless execution of campaigns.
Strong communication skills, a passion for sports marketing, and the ability to work flexible hours—including evenings and weekends for client hosting—are essential. Candidates must have at least five years of experience in a high-paced, sports-focused media environment and possess the creativity, business acumen, and organizational skills necessary to thrive in this consultative sales role.
Key Responsibilities & Role Summary:
- Drive revenue growth through strategic sports partnerships with key franchises such as the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Wings, NBA, SEC Football, and other WFAA/KFAA sports properties.
- Consistently meet or exceed individual sales goals across a variety of media platforms, including linear TV, digital, content sponsorships, and streaming (OTT via PREMION).
- Act as both a lead generator and marketing consultant—identifying high-potential clients and guiding them through tailored solutions to meet their business goals.
- Prospect, present, and close new business using market and category insights related to sports and audience engagement.
- Upsell existing clients by introducing them to the full suite of WFAA offerings across all platforms.
- Develop and present custom, cross-platform marketing campaigns aligned with client objectives and industry trends.
- Build compelling, insights-driven sales presentations and sponsorship packages that highlight the value of WFAA assets.
- Use CRM systems strategically to track sales activity, manage pipeline, and provide accurate forecasting.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure seamless campaign execution and client satisfaction.
- Maintain a strong, community-facing presence, including client hosting at events, often during evenings and weekends.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience in a fast-paced, sports-centric media environment.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and generating new business.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast and digital advertising solutions, with a growth mindset and willingness to continuously learn.
- Proficient in using CRM platforms and other sales/project management tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write compelling proposals and build strong client relationships.
- Creative thinker with a solutions-focused approach to campaign development.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and comfort with shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Strong business acumen, attention to detail, and excellent organizational/time-management skills.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a collaborative team mentality.
