This role emphasizes strategic thinking and empathy, requiring collaboration with creators and sponsors alike.
Summary Generated by Built In

This description is a wishlist, not a checklist. We want to find a super-amazing person to join our team, and we're well aware that “super-amazing" can come in all different forms. If you're a little less experienced on a specific bullet point, or if you didn't go to a fancy school, apply anyway. We look at candidates, not resumes.

About the Role

Nebula is looking for a Sponsor Relationship Manager to help build, maintain, and expand relationships with sponsors of educationish video and audio content. The ideal candidate is well-versed in influencer marketing, short form digital content, and what it means to build long-term relationships between brands and creators. The sponsor relationship manager will work on the Talent team alongside the creator relationship manager to build a holistic creator-focus sales and support team.

That said, this isn’t a sales job, it’s a relationship job. The shows sell themselves. The creators are our clients, not our product. Our primary job is to maintain the relationship the creators have with their customers — the sponsors — in a way that respects the relationship with their audience. These sponsor relationships are key to our clients’ business. Nuance and empathy are as important as strategy and hustle.

This is a salaried position. There is no commission. We’d like to find someone with experience working with YouTubers and podcasters, but any kind of talent agency experience may translate. We’d definitely prefer someone who has experience dealing with video and podcast sponsorships.

This job is extremely strategic. Nebula is a philosophy-driven company. We’re looking for someone who is ambitious, empathetic, thoughtful, able to think on their feet, and able to find patterns in the noise that others would miss. You’ll be working directly with the CEO (who wrote this posting personally — hi). You’ll spend most of your time working with companies, but you should always be aware that you answer to the creators, not their sponsors.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years in sponsorship and/or talent management.
  • Comfort and proficiency with sales and general business development practices.
  • Experience working across remote team; self-motivation and ability to prioritize your own time and manage multiple projects with little supervision.
  • A critical thinker who is adept at problem solving and meeting high standards, especially under tight timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to tailor communications based on audience.
  • Excitement about online video and podcasts.
  • Passion for being part of a team, and for learning the inner workings of the business.
  • Empathetic and amiable management skills regarding creative talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the sponsors to gather data, set pricing, pitch new shows, and generally advocate on behalf of Nebula creators.
  • Help to build the long-term sustainability of middle-class content creators by ensuring that Nebula accurately represents their interests when dealing with sponsors.
  • Seek out new sponsors with enthusiasm and hustle.
  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of the unique needs of digital creators and their audiences.
  • Thoughtfully vet inbound sponsors, considering how they might fit within our creator ecosystem, and what impact they might have on the reputation of our creators.
  • Understand and negotiate contract terms including NDAs, service agreements, insertion orders, and internal creator agreements.
  • Exhibit careful forethought and planning, booking sponsors months in advance.

Pay & Perks

  • Competitive salary starting at $80,000 USD depending on experience. We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have difference compensation levels. Actual starting salary will depend on various considerations including: work experience, skills, specializations, training, and location.
  • Flexible work hours and vacation policy.
  • Fully work-from-home.
  • Diverse, socially-minded team of nice people.
  • Medical, dental, and vision plans (for US-based employees).
  • 401(k) and other benefits (for US-based employees).

About Us

Nebula is both the largest and fastest growing creator-built premium streaming service. The success of the indie platform has been built upon the pioneering premise that the future of the creator economy should belong to the creators, and we are here to empower and enable their dreams. Nebula has successfully charted its own path in the streaming space since its inception — earning a reputation for being where creators go to develop premium content that wouldn’t be possible elsewhere. Nebula has successfully broken the mold with 200+ creators who are not only instrumental in rounding out the platform’s library, but also in building the roadmap for the company's daily operations and carefully curating its creator community. We do a lot of things to support creators, but most of our time is spent talking or working with the creators directly, one on one or in a group, coming up with better tools and toys for them. In 2024, we were listed as one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies".

We're a distributed company. We have offices in NYC and Denver, but more than 80% of the team is remote, in exotic locations like the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Ohio.

There are things to do and meetings to be had, but we pride ourselves on our flexibility. We think this makes Nebula a great place to work for people with families, or whose productive hours tend to be outside of the 9-5. We care about what you do more than when you do it.

How We Hire

We think that diversity is important. Many of us have non-traditional backgrounds. We work in the online education space, so we understand how much can be learned on your own, on the Internet, outside of a classroom.

We’re looking for people who are curious and passionate. Our team should be made up of people of all sorts of colors, genders, and backgrounds, who can help to expand our perspective and improve our ability to treat our creators and our audience with thoughtfulness and empathy.

If that sounds like you, we’re happy to care less how many years of experience you have or where you went to school. Apply anyway. And if you have any feedback on how we could reach or appeal to a more diverse pool of talent, get in touch.

Tip: “tv” is part of our domain, not our name.

What We Do

Our mission is to empower independent creators.

Launched in 2019, Nebula is both the largest and fastest growing creator-built premium streaming service. The success of the indie platform has been built upon the pioneering premise that the future of the creator economy should belong to the creators, and that philosophy has led to the release of many hit exclusives and originals, including the extremely popular travel game show Jet Lag: The Game, the Shakespearian trans-coming-out story of The Prince, and the debut film from Patrick Willems Night of the Coconut. Nebula has successfully charted its own path in the streaming space since its inception — earning a reputation for being where creators go to develop premium content that wouldn’t be possible elsewhere. The video and podcast streaming service focuses on both intellectually nutritious content and prestige fiction with a refreshing and trailblazing approach. Nebula has successfully broken the mold with 180+ creators who are not only instrumental in rounding out the platform's library, but also in building the roadmap for the company's daily operations and carefully curating its creator community. This past year alone, Nebula has more than tripled its direct subscriber base, and is second only to Netflix in customer retention. In 2024, the company was listed as one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies.”
