This position is responsible for EPA Refrigerant Compliance management for Ahold Delhaize USA (Includes Food Lion, Hannaford, The Giant Company, Giant Food and Stop & Shop stores). This includes, but is not limited to, record keeping, reporting and training of maintenance personnel. Routine testing and enhancement of refrigerant tracking software upgrades are also a responsibility of this position. Also manages the Green Chill EPA Partnership and provides reporting and metrics for Sustainability goals and initiatives.
This position is responsible for keeping up with rules and regulations provided from various government agencies. This position is also responsible for keeping up with industry trends regarding refrigerant consumption and inventory. Refrigerant conversions and new store/remodel refrigeration draws also fall under the supervision of this position.

  • EPA Refrigerant Compliance and record keeping.
  • Develop and maintain an Ahold Delhaize Refrigerant Compliance Plan and related updates.
  • Act as a company point of contact for EPA as well as for all 1000 + stores and 150+ maintenance personnel regarding all EPA refrigerant compliance issues and concerns.
  • Respond to EPA inquiries and provide data as required.
  • Communicate to upper management regarding new industry trends.
  • Maintain refrigerant information and records via refrigerant tracking software.
  • Issue reports to maintenance personnel to inform them of open refrigerant leak records and high refrigerant use at stores.
  • Communicate refrigerant compliance information and training to all maintenance personnel.
  • Compile and maintain Refrigerant Compliance Handbook that details Food Lion's refrigerant compliance plan and provides documentation relating to Delhaize America's compliance efforts and plans.
  • Compile and provide reports and data as requested by EPA (i.e. GreenChill Agreement). Set and track emission goals for banner members.
  • Oversee GreenChill store certifications. Recertify stores annually as needed (Food Lion only).
  • Provide quarterly reporting on refrigerant leak rates and pounds of refrigerant used for maintenance scorecards.
  • Provide quarterly reporting for all maintenance personnel.
  • Monitor and report on refrigerant use and leak rates for new technology and test equipment.
  • Look for industry trends (i.e. refrigerant).
  • Verify and maintain technician EPA certification documentation.
  • Approve release of refrigerant contractor's 2nd, 3rd & 4th draw payments for remodels and new stores. Verify required compliance forms are received and documented. Follow-up to ensure all forms are received. Maintain and track approval status and records. Key work orders for all contractor refrigerant use. Key refrigerant use for all leaks. Update and close all related leak records as they are triggered.
  • Add/remove refrigerated equipment to Service Channel as needed. Update regularly. On-board new banners, compiling all required data and adding it to Service Channel. Also phase out banners if they are sold. Update equipment records in Service Channel software and phase data out of reporting.
  • Collect and provide refrigerant Green House Gas (GHG) emissions data for Ahold Delhaize for annual Carbon Emissions/Foot printing reporting (update Monthly). Provide data to Sustainability dept on a Monthly and ad hoc basis. Includes gathering and incorporating data for Food Lion, Hannaford, Giant Company, Giant Food and Stop & Shop stores. Also includes tracking refrigerant charge per store in addition to the emissions. Meet with external and internal auditors to verify results and explain process.
  • Maintenance software testing and enhancements. Create and implement test plan for new software upgrades and new releases to system related to refrigerant tracking. Troubleshoot and test maintenance / refrigerant tracking software upgrades and new releases.
  • Identify, develop and present software enhancement opportunities.
  • Document, respond to and report system errors as they occur. Assist maintenance techs/supervisors with system errors to ensure refrigerant records are properly recorded.
  • Maintain and regularly update/correct system data as it pertains to refrigerant tracking. I.E. Review leak records to look for insufficient descriptions/ notes. Contact tech/supervisor for details required to correct the record.
  • Assist store and maintenance personnel with system questions, training and errors.
  • Provide documentation and training to maintenance personnel for system enhancements.
  • Work with other departments to maximize use of maintenance software. Provide reports as needed.
  • Internal Communication and Training . Use Leo authoring server to post and maintain documents and memos for the Food Lion maintenance personnel. Handle all updates for Energy Management department as well as occasional requests from other departments.
  • Develop and distribute training materials / presentations for maintenance personnel concerning changes and enhancements to the maintenance software system.
  • Develop and distribute training materials / presentations for maintenance personnel concerning EPA regulations.
  • Attend training classes relating to Refrigerant Compliance and EPA regulations.
  • Provide training and compliance updates for annual Maintenance Supervisor's meeting.
  • Manage Emerson Computer Based Maintenance (CBM) advisories. Receive email leak alerts from Emerson. Key work orders for techs to perform leak checks, set priority. Use CBM web-based software to view data and graphs and provide data to techs.
  • Post updates to the refrigeration and HVAC set points book and E2 book on LEO.

  • Skills:

    Education/Experience:• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science• EPA Technician Certification: Universal• NREP Certified Refrigeration Compliance Manager• 2-5 years of Experience with EPA Regulations
