The Position
The Specialist Employee Relations role involves managing a variety of tasks that support the Employee Relations function including ensuring that our processes run seamlessly. Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals and executes on operational activities in support of the function. Provides direction and assistance to employees at all levels guided by company policies.
Relationships
The Specialist, Employee Relations, reports to the Director, Employee Relations. This position will provide assistance to members of the team on matters related to Employee Relations. The individual will work across multiple teams within the company including but not limited to; internal stakeholders/clients, including HR Business Partners, line of business managers, Affiliates, Canters of Excellence, Employment Attorneys, Legal Department, the Compliance Department, and other relevant departments to ensure the successful implementation of all employee relations processes, which includes but is not limited to performance management. Extensive inter and intra-departmental contact may be required; may research complex or sensitive issues for internal stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Mitigates risk to the organization in supporting the resolution of sensitive ER related issues
- Ensures consistent interpretation and application of Novo Nordisk policies and practices in all aspects of related to ER case handling
- Tracks and analyses ER issue trends, diagnoses root cause, and makes and supports recommendations
- Supports the ER team in the design, development, and delivery of Novo Nordisk policies and ER training initiatives
- Obtains and/or reviews factual information concerning ER matters, including, employee/management inquiries and/or complaints
- Compiles ER data in order to identify, measure, and analyze functional, organizational, and systemic performance trends to develop insights and actions
- Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance
- Serves as a system expert within the team; trains new users and partners on change requirements and issue resolution
- Represents and/or leads projects for the team as required
- Manages progressive discipline actions for key processes
- Responsible for creating quarterly reports, presentations, and overall support on ER projects, process enhancements and system reporting. Ensure audit and data quality in support of the function. Manages data trackers for the team
- Manages the SharePoint site and content for the team
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor 's degree required; relevant experience and/or certification in specialized HR function may be substituted for degree, when appropriate. PHR, SPHR, CEBS, or CBP certification preferred
- Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience working in HR (e.g., Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partner, HR Generalist) or 1 year of HR experience with a master's in human resources, preferred; pharmaceutical industry experience also a plus
- Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, required. Demonstrated skills in PC applications
- Demonstrated experience taking initiative in effectively leading projects and process improvements
- Demonstrated strength in problem solving, decision making, and exercising sound judgement regarding complex employee matters
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet challenging and changing deadlines
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a high degree of professionalism and maturity in working with customers, peers, and managers
- Strong analysis/problem solving skills with proven ability to pay close attention to details
