DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including Air Force Space Command, U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
This Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering position within Space Support Integration group will be responsible for upholding a horizontal integration mindset across the entire mission area and build the necessary products to advocate the solution across the Joint Warfighter Enterprise. Operating within the Global Mission Operations in the Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO), Space Support Integration employs the engineering methods required to fully understand the Space Architecture, both space and non-space contributors, bridging communication, needs, and operational flow across the entire DoD space enterprise. This position will require coordination across all field command components as well as other branches of the military to capture the necessary Warfighter Effects solution.
Work Model: This position is based in El Segundo, California Due to the nature of the work, most of it requires you to be onsite.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead implementation of the department strategy to scope, layout and perform Mission Thread analyses for the Joint Warfighter
  • Examine threats, and current and future system architectures to identify solutions from either a technical, policy or training standpoint in one or more of the mission areas; 1) MW/MT/MD 2) SATCOM 3) BMC3 4) Combat Power
  • Develop and lead analysis teams to drive products clearly depicting the necessary steps to close risks, gaps, and opportunities
  • Facilitate and drive discussions between SSIO government customer and other field commands, combatant commands, and across military branches to fully capture and enhance the US DoD space war-fighting capabilities and architecture.
  • Provide technical authority and recommendations to USG customers on identifying and developing solutions to integrate into US DoD space systems architecture
  • Advise and mentor others regarding directives, policies, and capabilities impacting operationalizing the space architecture (application of non-space contributors)
  • Anticipate needs for future government leadership efforts to build necessary backplane across Aerospace.


What You Need to be Successful - Enterprise Systems Engineering
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in applicable STEM areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to maintain effective working relationships. with contractors, industry professionals, government customers, and technical staff.
  • Ability to work closely with senior government management and guide senior leaders on space systems acquisition, design, or production through engineering presentations, informal discussions, and courses of action decisions.
  • 8 or more years of increasing responsibility and applicable experience in engineering and technical roles.
  • Experience in space systems engineering, acquisition, architecting, and integration.
  • Possess initiative, persistence, and ability to self-organize and accomplish work that meet aggressive timelines.
  • Willing to travel domestically/internationally approximately 25%.
  • This position requires a current TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearances, which are issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required.


In addition to the above, the Senior Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering position requires:

  • Twelve or more years of related, proven technical expertise.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary systems engineering activities for space systems
  • Working with or developing SATCOM and space-based missile defense sensing technologies
  • Confirmed acquisition and operational experience with SSC SATCOM, Space Sensing mission, Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Combat Power (CP) mission areas.
  • Proven experience taking initiative and delivering on commitments.


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Previous acquisition, operational and/or technical experience with U.S. and Allied systems in one or more mission areas, such as MILSATCOM, Launch, Space Domain Awareness, Space Command, and Control, Tactical Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance.
  • Previous experience working with USSPACECOMMAND or CSpOC
  • Previous experience in space systems architecture development or analysis.
  • Previous experience in working with Electromagnetic Warfare, Missile Defense/Missile Tracking
  • Previous experience coordinating across the DoD space enterprise including (allied governments, other U.S. government agencies, academia, and industry)
  • Previous experience with system requirements development and commercial SATCOM efforts.
  • Current SAP/SAR accesses

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
