The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
The Enterprise Cybersecurity & Integration (EC&I) organization works alongside the US Space Systems Command (SSC) S6 (Communications) Office to safeguard the future of space systems by providing expert knowledge in various domains of cyberspace, such as cybersecurity, program protection, cryptography, data governance & architecting, and software. We are seeking a cryptographic systems engineer with experience in COMSEC acquisition and cybersecurity to help support a team responsible for crypto system acquisitions for various satellite programs. This position is perfect for driven professionals who enjoy solving problems that affect global security, have the passion and experience for keeping ahead of our adversaries and taking mission capabilities to the next level, and are interested in tackling multiple projects and exploring novel ideas.
Work Model: This position's work model is hybrid. The employee will report on-site at Los Angeles Air Force Base, El Segundo at least 4 days a week, with additional on-site presence dependent on customer needs.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Marshall technical resources to provide customers with the best advice to support space mission assurance, requirements management, and testing support for space cryptographic device development.
  • Coordinating the implementation of cryptographic and cybersecurity requirements for space programs
  • Provide analysis of design trade space and provide inputs on specific design elements, in relation to environmental, trust, and cyber-security issues
  • Support and assist in the optimization and streamlining of the security certification process in order to meet stringent information assurance requirements whilst staying sensitive to SWaP requirements
  • Bringing together the resolution of issues across the Space Force, HQ CCC, CCSD, NSA, and other Department of Defense components and agencies
  • Review and validation of NSA service requests
  • Review of space system key management plans
  • Developing security risk assessments and completing other systems engineering and cybersecurity tasks as assigned


What You Need to Be Successful Project Engineer - Information Systems Security and Information Assurance Systems Development
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree from a technical program in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science or other applicable technical degree
  • Six years of relevant professional experience in scientific or engineering positions
  • Experience with assessments or systems engineering / architecting of cybersecurity solutions or cryptographic products
  • Experience with systems engineering subject areas, including requirements engineering, verification, test, and/or risk management
  • Willing to travel periodically, as needed
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain additional clearances, which are issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to acquire a security clearance


In addition to the above, the Senior Project Engineer - Information Systems Security and Information Assurance Systems Development requires:

  • 12 years of relevant professional leadership experience with technical or engineering focus
  • Five or more years of experience with assessments or systems engineering / architecting of cybersecurity solutions or cryptographic products
  • Proven experience with systems engineering fields, including requirements engineering, verification, test, and/or risk management

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
