About the Role:

The Solution Train Manager (STM)is responsible for coordinating large-scale agile delivery, ensuring timely and quality solution releases, and aligning cross-functional teams with strategic objectives. The STM oversees the release activities of multiple agile teams, ensuring efficient delivery of complex enterprise solutions. This role requires expertise in agile methodologies, program management, and software development processes to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. 

The STM identifies risks, manages dependencies, and fosters continuous improvement, driving lean agile leadership and mentoring teams to adopt best practices for enterprise solution delivery. 



Responsibilities:

  • Release-Level Planning: Lead release planning to ensure strategic alignment and timely, cohesive delivery across teams. 
  • Agile and Lean Execution: Facilitate agile execution across teams, including planning and integration activities. 
  • Cadence and Sync Facilitation: Facilitate sync meetings to ensure communication, collaboration, and transparency across all agile teams. 
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders to align on vision, objectives, and manage dependencies. 
  • Solution Delivery Oversight: Oversee delivery of large enterprise solutions, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality, and goals. 
  • Release Governance: Lead governance processes, ensuring compliance with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). 
  • Risk and Issue Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate solution-level risks, leading risk mitigation strategies and processes. 
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor teams, fostering lean agile leadership and continuous learning. 
  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Engage customers and stakeholders, incorporating their needs into the release process and governance. 
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead release retrospectives and champion process improvements, driving efficiency and innovation. 
  • Executive Reporting and Decision Support: Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership, supporting decision-making with clarity. 

Skills:

  • Expert Knowledge: Proven expertise in project and program management within a lean agile enterprise. 
  • Agile Program Management: Extensive experience with complex agile projects & programs across multiple teams & modules for high-quality solution delivery. 
  • Software Development & Deployment: Strong understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, and enterprise solution strategies. 
  • Enterprise Solution Delivery:In-depth knowledge of enterprise-scale delivery, especially in banking and financial services. 
  • Release Strategies: Deep expertise in release strategies for complex multi-module software solutions with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams. 
  • Risk and Issue Management: Expert in identifying, managing, and mitigating risks at program and solution levels with a focus on proactive risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Experienced in leading and mentoring teams to achieve program objectives efficiently. 
  • Lean Agile Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams in adopting agile practices and delivering incremental value. 
  • Executive Presence & Communication: Advanced skills in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders and decision-makers. 
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Expert in breaking down complex problems and driving structured, actionable solutions. 
  • Planning & Scheduling: Mastery in planning and scheduling large programs, ensuring strategic alignment and resource efficiency. 
  • Creativity & Innovation: Advanced creative problem-solving and first-principles thinking for continuous process improvements. 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience Landscape: 10-15 years of experience in software release management, with experience coordinating and leading large-scale releases. Must be able to manage isolated and coordinated releases. 
  • Education/Pedigree: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of prior experience as a Release Train Manager or Release Train Engineer (RTE)
  • RTE Certification or similar program management certifications 
  • Prior Scaled Agile experience (SAFe Agilist or Practitioner certification would be a bonus) 
  • Experience in modern cloud-native, API-first and microservices-based SaaS platforms , Prior banking experience
