We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Solution Architect to join our IT team in Langley, BC.  

Reporting to the Director, IT Strategy and Planning, you will work collaboratively with IT project teams and business stakeholders to develop information, integration, and application solutions that align with Pattison Food Group’s technology standards and business goals.
You will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical leadership, from strategic decision-making to project planning.

  • Monitoring and assessing the solution portfolio to identify deficiencies, including aging technologies or misaligned applications.

  • Analyzing the business-IT environment to address critical deficiencies, legacy issues, technical debt and recommending improvements.

  • Supporting the design and construction of data integration and business application architectures.

  • Collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to align solutions with business and IT objectives.

  • Ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, extensible, and supportable long-term.

  • Developing standards, policies, best practices, and reference architectures, guiding solution designs and implementations.

  • Mentoring technology teams on technical concepts and staying updated on emerging technologies and trends for strategic alignment.

You have:

  • An undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science/engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a large and complex retail organization.

  • 7+ years of technology experience, including Java EE, JavaScript, React, and web development.

  • A strong understanding of integration platforms (Service Buses, API Gateways) and modern integration styles (RESTful APIs, Messaging).

  • Experience with enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server), Azure Cloud, and familiarity with XML, JSON, and Linux/Windows environments.

  • Experience with JBoss, Apache, and architecture modeling tools.

  • A certification in Azure (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals) with familiarity in DevOps practices and tools like CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes (considered an asset).

  • A proven ability to define the strategy and architectural direction for real-time data streaming in large-scale, complex environments, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and alignment with business objectives (considered and asset).

  • A strong understanding of security best practices, compliance standards, Active Directory, Entra ID, and experience in Agile methodologies using tools like Scrum and JIRA (considered an asset).

Compensation Details:

$104,400.00 - $130,500.00

The compensation offered for this position will take into consideration location, education, skills, experience, and other factors.
