Overview

The Software Test Engineer, Sr plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software for the next generation of dental products. This position involves analyzing software requirements and designs to develop robust testing frameworks and automation programs that detect defects early in the development cycle. The role requires both independent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration to streamline testing processes, improve product quality, and drive the evolution of software testing practices at A-dec. By facilitating communication across departments and championing best practices, this engineer contributes to delivering innovative, high-quality solutions to end customers.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Designs, develops, and executes comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on software requirements and specifications.
  • Automates test cases using industry-standard tools and frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Identifies, documents, and tracks software defects, and work closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Performs functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing to ensure the robustness of software applications.
  • Collaborates with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Leads debug effort, on the testing side, of non-compliant product behavior by executing scenarios and collecting data.
  • Develops and completes appropriate software documentation, working collaboratively with others. Ensures documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
  • Participates in code reviews with a focus on testability and automation.
  • Establishes and maintains test environments and data to support various testing phases.
  • Develops and maintains testing standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Mentors and guides junior Quality Assurance (QA) Analysts and Software Test Engineers to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Stays updated with the latest testing tools, techniques, and methodologies, and recommends improvements to the testing process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills with a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment while following established procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to utilize various strategies to address complex scenarios.
    • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
    • Strong technical abilities and comfort working with various software programs.
  • Strong motivation to learn about products in development and aspires to support quality wherever possible.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision while organizing time and work area to be effective.
  • Proficiency with automated testing tools such as Hudson, Jenkins, Bamboo or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of security testing and related tools.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering of other science/engineering related field, or equivalent years of practical experience in the Software QA field with technical competence.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience as a Software Test Automation Engineer.
  • Three (3)+ years of experience as a software tester.
  • Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Experience with CAN Bus, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C interfaces.
  • Experience with API tools such as Postman, cUrl or equivalent.
  • Experience with networking tools such as Wireshark, openssl or equivalent.
  • Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Exposure to working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
