Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Product Manager to oversee our entire Embedded Linux software stack, from bootloader, Kernel & BSP, Linux distribution, OTA, to cloud services. Security is paramount at every level.

This role involves managing the lifecycle of our software products, from conception to long-term maintenance, ensuring they meet customer needs and align with our business goals.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for our full software stack, including operating systems (primarily LTS Linux), middleware, development tools, and cloud services. Security is a critical requirement across the stack
  • Roadmap Planning: Create and maintain a detailed software roadmap, define the long-term support strategy
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on customer feedback, market trends, and business objectives
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their needs, and ensure our software solutions address their pain points
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats and adjust the software strategy accordingly
  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of our software stack and make data-driven decisions
  • Compliance: Ensure all software products comply with relevant industry standards and regulations

Desired Candidate Profile

Must-Haves:

  • Proven experience in software product management
  • Strong understanding of Embedded Linux, the open-source community, mainline upstream/downstream decisions, and LTS strategy
  • Passion for understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that exceed their expectations
  • Experience working in a diverse and multicultural environment 
  • Successful collaboration and the ability to impact cross-functional teams such as R&D, Marketing, and Sales
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in English
  • A goal-oriented, self-driven, and innovative mindset
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed (10-20% mainly to Toradex locations worldwide)

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Proven experience managing the full software stack for embedded devices, from bootloader to cloud
  • Experience in embedded computing, IoT, and related areas
  • Technical engineering background
  • Proficiency in German (written and spoken); other languages are a plus
