We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.

The Role

Skytap is an IaaS provider deployed globally in Azure that’s just joined forces with infrastructure services powerhouse Kyndryl, and the future has never looked brighter!  This exciting new chapter combines our cutting-edge cloud platform with Kyndryl’s robust infrastructure expertise, creating a unique opportunity to deliver smarter, more scalable capabilities for businesses worldwide.

As we integrate the best of both companies, we’re looking for talented individuals to help us define the next chapter of our journey. If you’re passionate about building products that make a real impact and ready to bring fresh ideas, we want you to be part of our growing team.  We’re creating a new era of seamless, high-performance solutions that drive real innovation and modernization for clients across industries. Let’s build that future together!

Our Web-MiddleTier Team consists of three engineering components managing over 20 services supporting the Web UI layer, REST API layer, application business logic and data plane orchestration software. Skytap is looking for a seasoned and highly skilled Software Engineering Architect who will report to the Director of Engineering and work on a variety of engineering projects across the Web-MiddleTier space.

Your Responsibilities:

Your work in this role will cover a variety of technical domains and crucial business problems, and you will be hands-on working on things like:

  • Jump in and do technical deep dives, debugging, or performance instrumentation and analysis for hard problems that may arise on any of the three component teams, sometimes solo and other times working with other engineers

  • Lead projects that introduce significant architectural changes spanning the entire application stack from the Web UI, through the business and orchestration layers to our Data Plane services. This includes both individual technical work as well as working on a tiger-team with other engineers.

  • Work with the Director of Engineering and Principal Engineers to identify and drive the architecture roadmap of the components and services, and prioritize and implement strategic initiatives that benefit the teams. This might involve foundational work to improve reliability, upgradability, observability, application throughput and performance, security, better SDE practices and tooling, and more.

In this role, you’ll have a lot of autonomy to identify and solve important problems. Skytap, a Kyndryl Company, is a growing organization, filled with talented, friendly people you’ll collaborate with and mentor. There are plenty of interesting problems to solve, and likewise there’s plenty of opportunity for you to make a noticeable impact within the Engineering team and on the overall business.
