Reporting to the manager software engineering, the software engineer will contribute to the further growth of Esko’s Studio team, responsible for showing packaging in 3D on your screen. Have a look at https://www.esko.com/en/products/studio to learn what we do.
The Studio team works two days from the office in Gent and three days from home.
In this role, a typical day will look like:

As we work in scrum, your day will start with a daily standup meeting.

Depending on the stories, you will program using different technologies:

The Studio team delivers plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator and our own desktop application both on macOS and Windows. The technologies we use there are modern C++ (currently 20), OpenGL and Qt.

We also deliver an HTML5 viewer that is incorporated into Esko’s Cloud solutions. JavaScript and WebGL are used in this viewer.

We work on computational geometry problems, implementing user interfaces and 3D rendering.

When you finalize a task, two other developers will review it. This is an ideal way to learn from each other and in the end, the delivered software is the responsibility of the whole team.

Every 6 weeks, there is a tech day where you can work on a project of your choosing or spend it studying. Of course, what you choose should have relevance for your job.

Every year, we have innovation days: Esko Innovation days give you the opportunity to spend 1.5 days, working on any innovative idea that you have, as long as it is related to Esko’s business.
The essential requirements of the job include:

Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, IT, Mathematics or Physics

Fluent in English

General programming experience (preferably C++)
Knowledge of the following technologies is a plus, but can be learned on the job:
