The Game Framework Engineer will work within the Game Development Kit (GDK) team, dedicated to creating engaging game experiences for casino products. The global GDK team develops a robust gaming framework used across all Light & Wonder gaming applications.
This role’s primary responsibility is to produce high-quality, timely software for assigned projects, which involves developing, supporting, and maintaining a reusable gaming framework utilized by Game Development Studios worldwide. A proactive approach and accountability for thorough task execution are essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement key gaming features based on game design requirements and in compliance with gaming jurisdiction standards.

Develop deep expertise in the GDK code base and subsystems, actively contributing to their improvement and upkeep.

Continuously seek enhancements to existing code and development processes.

Adhere to coding standards, engineering best practices, and team workflows for all assigned tasks.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and develop reusable software components.

Independently design and implement solutions for moderately to highly complex projects and tasks.

Provide timely and accurate project updates and information to the lead engineer.

Stay informed on emerging programming techniques, best coding practices, and new software technologies.

Maintain an understanding of competitive products and industry technology trends.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

2+ years of professional experience in a software development team environment.

Proficiency in C++ and C# development.

Strong foundation in object-oriented programming and design patterns.

Familiarity with development tools, including IDEs, debuggers, bug tracking, and source control systems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Proficiency with C# .NET.

Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Agile methodologies.

Competence in using performance monitors for optimization.

Strong code review skills.
Preferred Experience:

Game development experience is highly preferred.

Proficiency with Unity or other game engines.

Understanding of hardware engineering and hardware components.

Experience with scripting languages like Python, batch, or PowerShell.

Familiarity with project management tools such as Confluence and Jira.

Linux/Unix experience is an advantage.

Exposure to automated testing and continuous integration/deployment processes.

Experience with virtualization technologies is a plus.

Background in software design and architecture is beneficial.
