Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every Friday off. The position has some remote work available but must be located in Melbourne, FL.
The Aeronautics Systems sector is looking to grow in support of designing and implementing technologies critical to the USAF Open Architecture initiatives. Our work influences the investment decisions of our senior leadership and customer program offices as well as impacting the Air Force enterprise of acquisition programs.
The candidate will work with the Chief Architect and Systems Engineering lead to design architecture solutions supporting Open Mission System (OMS) and Universal Command and Control Initiative (UCI) Standards development. The candidate should have experience in developing software on an agile focused team and is knowledgeable of the software development lifecycle and be able to work independently.
We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable with multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, giving verbal presentations, and self-educating without direct supervision. The candidate must have a firm understanding of traditional systems engineering concepts and methodologies and must be able to apply and adjust these concepts and methodologies to an accelerated process in the early stages of the engineering design. The candidate must be familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), be able to work within an agile environment, and be an “out of the box” thinker.
Essential Functions:

Participation in architecture definition and complex system problem solving in support of Research and Advanced Design programs

Design, develop, and document software for mission planning solutions

Collaborate with the Chief Architect and Lead Systems Engineer to build and test OMS tools, services, and bridges

Generating and presenting material to support internal and external customer briefings
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience in software engineering

Must be a U.S Citizen

Experience developing software with C/C++/Python/Java

Experience with UCI Schema and CAL development

Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering

Experience working within an Agile environment

Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, CMake, and Eclipse, Visual Studio Code

Knowledge of Linux systems and basic commands

Preference to work in software/hardware integration and rapid prototyping

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Salary Range: $75,300.00 - $112,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
