As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's DATA PRODUCTS organization, you will be based in Strongsville, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX.
The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in building scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and optimizing data availability. You will design and implement data solutions using cutting-edge technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to data governance and quality initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using cloud platforms and big data technologies.
Develop and optimize data warehousing solutions to ensure high availability and performance.
Implement data modeling techniques to support analytics and reporting needs.
Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across all data processes.
Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
Leverage cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) to build robust data architectures.
Utilize DevOps practices and CI/CD tools to automate and streamline data workflows.
Monitor and maintain data systems, implementing alerting mechanisms to ensure reliability.
Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or a related field.
A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is a plus.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building scalable data pipelines and warehousing solutions.
Proven expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink).
Experience with data governance, quality management, and compliance.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming languages such as PySpark, Scala, SQL, and Java.
Strong experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD workflows (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools for data systems.
Experience with mainframe technologies and COBOL is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile/SAFe environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Engineer, Agile/SAFe Practitioner, or Apache Hadoop.
Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow).
Background in working with large-scale, distributed systems.
