CMT is looking for a collaborative, customer-committed, and creative Software Engineer II, Android - Crash and Claims who wants to join us in making roads safer by making drivers better!
As part of the Crash and Claims group you will be a key contributor in designing and implementing new features in the OpenRoad mobile app and Mobile SDK of our telematics platform - DriveWell Crash. This platform saves people's lives by proactively contacting them to help and send emergency services and roadside assistance when they are involved in a car crash.
Responsibilities:
- Solve complex problems and transform those problems into business solutions with other team members
- Analyze and translate business and functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications
- Train and guide junior developers about software development procedures and methods
- Follow and improve company defined development and operational standards and processes
- Design and build mobile applications that delight users through engaging user interfaces and captivating user experiences
- Support and troubleshoot production issues as needed.
- In some cases, this role may offer an opportunity to lead a small cross-functional team focused on a specific company objective or product area
- Complete any additional tasks as they arise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification
- 2+ years of relevant Android engineering experience
- Proficient in both Java and Kotlin and a strong understanding of concurrency concepts
- Familiarity with Android JetPack libraries
- Experience with different application architectures such as Model-View-Controller, MVVM, and VIPER
- Experience with Kotlin coroutines and flows
- Familiarity with third-party Android libraries like RxJava, Dagger 2, and Retrofit
- Experience building adaptive user interfaces
- Solid knowledge of the gradle build system for Android
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies (specifically SCRUM)
- Experience consuming and/or designing REST APIs is highly desirable
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience adhering to official UX design guidelines from Apple and Google
- Experience developing and delivering SDKs
- Experience working with mobile sensors and location services
- User level knowledge of issue tracking systems (specifically Jira, Mavenlink)
- Knowledge of iOS development
- Experience with Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
- Investigation and issue analysis from logs: Cloudwatch
- Instrumentation and correlation tracking/statistics with Datadog
