About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure/Operations Engineer to join our DevOps team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing IT-related tasks such as maintaining hardware, deploying VMs, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), following IT corporate patching strategies, and debugging network issues. This role requires a strong background in system administration, virtualization, cloud services, and automation, with a particular emphasis on Kubernetes.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Kubernetes Management: Install, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters. 

  • Server Management: Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers. 

  • Network Management: Configure and manage network devices and settings to ensure proper communication within the infrastructure. 

  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the overall IT infrastructure, including storage systems and backup solutions. 

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability of the infrastructure. 

  • Security Management: Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls and access controls. 

  • Automation: Automate routine tasks using scripts, deployments through Terraform, and using configuration management tools such as Ansible. 

Typical Tasks: 

  • Setting up and maintaining servers and network devices. 

  • Ensuring data backups and disaster recovery plans are in place. 

  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues. 

  • Implementing security measures and managing access controls. 

  • Managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and related infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience

  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices

  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams

  • The willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

    Preferred Qualifications:

      • Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems

      • Proficiency with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V (configuring, upgrading, and maintaining)

      • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker for creating and managing containers, and Kubernetes for orchestrating and managing containerized applications at scale 

      • Familiarity with various scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)

      • Understanding of networking protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

      • Experience with cloud services AWS and Azure

      • Experience with IaC tools like Terraform

      • Experience with version control systems (GitLab, GitHub). 

      • Experience with monitoring and logging tools

      • Strong knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS)

      • Experience with storage management tools and software

      • Familiarity with cloud storage solutions like AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage

      • Experience with managing backups

      • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

      • Knowledge of implementing and managing security measures

      • Experience in setting up and managing disaster recovery plans

        Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

        • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

        • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

        • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

        Working Conditions:

        • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

        • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

        • Rarely exposed to loud noises

        This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.

        Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position. 
         
        We also offer a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 8%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, and more.

        Estimated Starting Salary Range:$91,154.71 - $125,337.72
