Your Mission

Develop backend capabilities as part of the Secure the Enterprise initiative, shifting from manual security evaluation processes to automated, streamlined workflows. Build, test, and deploy Python-based REST endpoints, microservices, and data models to support critical data management and API integration efforts.

You Will Excel in This Role If You Are:

• Experienced in backend software development, specializing in Python, Django, and Flask
• Excited to work on a highly visible project with over 3,000 active users, providing direct impact and leadership engagement
• Skilled in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices
• Proficient in working with databases such as MongoDB, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL
• Detail-oriented and proactive in debugging and optimizing backend systems
• Comfortable working in Agile environments with sprint-based development

A Day in the Life Of:

• Flexible scheduling within core hours from 10 AM – 2 PM
• Hybrid Telework opportunity: after 90 days
• Developing and deploying backend services using Python, Django, and Flask
• Agile work structure with 2-week sprints and 90-day program increments
• Managing and optimizing database interactions with MongoDB, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL
• Creating and maintaining RESTful API endpoints to support frontend applications
• Debugging and troubleshooting existing software to improve performance
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services with UI frontends
• Contributing to Agile sprints and program increment planning

Must Haves

• TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance
• Bachelors degree in a related field with seven (7) years of relevant experience (4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree)
• Proficiency in Python development
• Experience using Django or Flask frameworks
• Hands-on experience with databases like MongoDB or MariaDB
• Strong background in RESTful API development and microservices architecture
• Ability to analyze system workflows and improve backend performance

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Swagger for API documentation
• AWS, C2S, or other cloud platform expertise
• Docker containerization experience
• Familiarity with JSON and XML serialization
• Agile development experience with Jira and Confluence
• Version control expertise with Git
• Proficiency in using Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs
