Our team is building a next generation cross-platform UI development framework that’s transforming the way Snap builds and releases its products across Android, iOS, and web. We’re looking for a senior engineer with experience in build systems, compilers, and programming languages. You’ll be responsible for improving the performance and overall developer experience of our cross-platform framework! 

What you'll do:

• Develop and refine build, debug, and performance tools for Snap’s cross-platform framework

• Work closely with our client infrastructure engineers on build systems that quickly identify and automatically triage run-time performance and quality issues

• Identify and lead improvements to the compilation and performance of our cross-platform framework

• Evaluate technical tradeoffs of every decision and collaborate with other engineers on the best development practices

• Perform code reviews that guarantee code quality and raise the bar for development

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong experience using C++ for low-level language features and implementations

• Familiarity with Bazel or similar build tools

• Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals as well as mobile development

• Proficiency with performance optimization techniques

• Strong CS fundamentals (algorithms and data structures) and problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of software design patterns and best practices

Minimum qualifications:

• BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience

• 6+ years of experience working in Software Development roles

Good have qualifications:

• Experience developing for desktop, mobile, or web using C++ or TypeScript

• Experience with declarative UI frameworks (e.g. React Native)

• Experience with low level graphics

• Experience with performance optimization

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$313,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $199,000-$297,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $178,000-$266,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
