As an engineer at Grab, you're at our core, improving millions of lives daily. The ADS Technology team, one of Grab's most promising departments, handles our advertising business, including delivery and marketing. We offer advanced technology advertising solutions, using a microservice architecture for backend development and multiple front-end technologies like iOS, Android, Flutter, and Web to cater to our users - consumers, drivers, merchants, and partners. Operating across seven countries, we aim to enhance businesses' reach and conversion rates through precise advertising marketing strategies. We transform our microservices into platforms to expedite new product launches and follow a system principle that allows system improvement based on feedback signals, without human intervention.
Get to know the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help our team in developing scalable solutions for our ads business. You will report to the Engineering Manager. We believe you have experience in go and cloud services, and an ability to work cohesively within a team, but if you believe you have what it takes then we'd love to hear from you either way. This role is required because we're expanding our team and need experienced technical engineer to ensure its success.
This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.
The Critical Tasks You will Perform
- You will design and write using GO language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services.
- You will be involved in code and design reviews to maintain Grab's development standards.
- You will participate in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning and optimization
- You will participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standard
- You will partner with other engineering teams to explore and create new designs/architectures geared towards scale and performance.
- You will work with the infrastructure team in building and scaling back-end services and performing root cause analysis investigations.
- You will responsible for designing, building, analyzing and fixing large-scale systems.
- You will debug and modify complex production software
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- You will have at least 2 years' experience in software engineering within a distributed systems environment.
- You are well-versed in Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures. You have a sound understanding of system performance and scaling.
- You have solid software engineering and coding skills, with proficiency in any programming language and a willingness to work with GoLang.
- You are familiar in system performance and scaling.
