MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

・Currently pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree with an expected graduation through to the end of March 2027

※Must be in school until the end of internship program

・Must be available for a 3-month on-site internship in 2025

・Have no more than 24 months of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience)

・Overseas Students (Based outside of Japan) who require visa support must meet one of the following requirements:

　　・The internship program is part of your education and essential for your graduation

　　・This internship allows you to receive some credit(s) for your education program

　　・Have Bachelor degree at the time of application

WORKING CONDITIONS

・Start Date: June 1, 2025,  August 1, 2025

・Internship Duration: 3 months 

・Expected work hours: 5 days (40 hours/week), depending on visa and class scheduling, some flexibility for shorter hours may be available

・Salary Type: Hourly wage

TEAM

Arene's mission is to empower Toyota and its partners to deliver next-generation vehicles with hardware-agnostic software that can be updated to support new features at any time.

Arene’s vehicle data platform provides a secure and scalable cloud location for the data generated by millions of vehicles, which in turn enables data-driven decisions, supports the Toyota Production System, drives customer value, generates revenue, and reduces product time-to-market.

You will report to the Team Lead of the designated team under Arene Vehicle Data, and this role’s workplace type is on-site.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for software engineers who are willing to work with a team and are passionate about building a data platform to support future mobility services and enable data-driven decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborating with a team of experienced software developers to design and develop software solutions for automotive systems
• Participating in code reviews and contributing to the overall quality of the software development process
• Assisting with software testing and debugging to ensure high-quality, reliable software solutions
• Documenting software design, development, and testing activities
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of software development practices and processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Python, TypeScript, or similar programming languages
• Basic working knowledge of SQL and databases, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, etc.
• Basic working knowledge of cloud-based (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure) applications
• Proficiency in English

NICE TO HAVES

• Hands-on experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, AWS Kinesis, etc.) and stream processing technologies (Flink, Kafka Streams, Spark, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure) microservice architecture, event-driven, distributed architectures
• Hands-on experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Hands-on experience in production system management, monitoring, and analysis
• Proficiency in Japanese
