Reporting to the Practice Leader, Development, the Software Developer role will be working with our backend service development team to build new features, enhance existing feature and improving unit test coverage. This is your chance to work on real-world projects, applying your skills to solve challenges and contribute to the creation of Interac products.
Your role will be working in RTR where you’ll be working with the latest tech stacks and collaborating closely with highly skilled development team which will help you to learn and gain real world problem solving experiences. You can expect to improve the current test coverage to targeted 85%, gain proficiency in using version control (Git) and grow your skills using Interac’s tools.
You’ll be responsible for:

Working with lead and senior development leaders to understanding business requirements and translate them into design specifications and code

Designing solutions, writing code, performing unit testing, developing appropriate artifacts/documentation, and facilitating final delivery

Developing backend applications using object-oriented programming model

Working with test teams and supporting them in functional and performance testing

Prepare documentation (code documentation, user guide) and present completed projects/features to the team
You bring:
-
Currently completing an undergraduate degree from a creditable Canadian institution with a focus on computer science, software engineering or similar field

Experience and understanding of programming languages, databases, code management tools

Posses understanding of concepts of unit testing, application logging
-
Well versed with Angular and reasonable exposure to API integrations

Knowledge in Java Spring Boot is an advantage – you will be working in Java Spring Boot framework and therefore you should be willing to learn and grow your skills

Prior co-op experience in similar roles is an asset (Full stack Developer, Software Development Intern)

A self-starter mindset with a drive for continuous learning – you have a natural ability to pick up new technology – you enjoy solving problems while learning about new tools, technology, applications and how they work

Confidence in your ability to communicate verbally and written in a detailed and impactful way

Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:

You will be digging into several other technologies too, so experience in any of these areas is a huge plus: HTML5, CSS3, SASS or LESS, ReactJS, Intellij

Understanding Agile methodologies and processes

Knowledge of Security in web platform such as WebAuthN, OAuth2 etc.

Experience with DevOps tools and processes

ReactJS experience

Excellent teamwork and colloabration skills along with strong analysis and problem-solving skills
