Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform or assist in high-level and low-level software design and implementation of new modules and enhancements to existing software.
- Perform or assist in feasibility studies of needed software development.
- Document the design including features definition and architecture.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews and code reviews.
- Plan and perform unit and system level testing of implemented software modules and enhancements.
- Help fix software bugs found during all testing phases.
- Work with team to deploy and test incremental software releases.
- Organize and coordinate development activities within schedule and product constraints.
- Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
- Example target projects:
- Design or assist in the design and development of the Mosaic Cloud Platform management solution.
- Design or assist in the design and development of CI pipeline infrastructure needed to build and test Mosaic Cloud Platform.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education required.
- This mid-level position is for a Software Development Engineer II, which may include between 3 and 6 years of experience.
- Example Qualifications:
- A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, software engineering, and functional programming techniques is required.
- Experience with software design, implementation, and debugging including interprocess communication and multi-threading techniques.
- Experience or strong knowledge in a JVM language (Java, Scala, Kotlin, Clojure), functional programming language (Erlang, Elixir, Haskell, SML, Elm, F#, Lisp, Scheme, Racket, ReasonML, PureScript), or other modern language (Go, Rust, Swift).
- Experience developing and deploying large-scale applications.
- No travel is expected in this position (position can be Hybrid or Fully Remote/WFH)
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Experience with JVM tuning and memory management.
- Experience developing containerized applications (Docker or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Ethernet, IP, TCP, HTTP, and other networking protocols.
- Knowledge of the telecom industry as it relates to providing broadband connectivity for both residential and commercial applications.
- Experience with or knowledge of microservice networking including mesh networks and service discovery.
- Experience with or knowledge of Kubernetes.
