The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.
What You'll Do
As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you are a QA expert and developer who thrives and excels at delivering results at scale. Your primary role will be building testing tools and automation frameworks and collaborating to identify areas suitable for automated testing. You will develop test framework features to enable developers and testers to author automated tests. We seek teammates who are passionate about upstream technical testing while developing tools, automation, and capacity engineering to raise the quality bar while advancing your technical capabilities and knowledge.
In this role, you will
- Work on a team that aims to grow test automation and scale services and tooling to meet the needs of Epic’s portfolio
- Design, develop, and maintain test tools and automation frameworks. This includes building backend services to facilitate testing needs
- Plan, design, and implement complex system-level test scenarios
- Enable developers, testers, and analysts to author automation test scripts, implement automation best practices, and help lay the foundation of scalable, automated test solutions
- Track performance metrics testing patterns, optimize product verification and release processes, collaborate with Engineers, QA, and other SDETs across teams and projects
- Build relationships and partnerships with internal customers and stakeholders across Epic
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in the design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of automated tests and frameworks
- Experience with Java required; proficiency with Python, Typescript, and other languages a big plus
- Good knowledge of how micro-services work and operate in the eco-system of an application
- Experience with end-to-end, functional, and unit tests
- Experience working collaboratively with team members on a common codebase using version control tools (e.g., Perforce, Git)
- Experience with databases (Mongo, SQL, Dynamo, Spark), backend services, and integrations is a huge plus
- Knowledge or experience with building and testing orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins, GHA)
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure. (AWS is a plus)
- Experience with Polyglot development, working between full-stack systems. I.e., a full-stack web application (service and frontend)
- Games industry experience is a plus
This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
New York City Base Pay Range
$111,384—$163,363 USD
California Base Pay Range
$98,018—$143,759 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$89,107—$130,690 USD
