Software Developer - React Native

We are looking for a junior mobile developer for a role with our mobile app React Native/native Android/ native iOS team.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Software Development

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

• Review and understand our requirements, functional and technical specifications to support assigned product changes.

• Decompose our requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications and code for simple and moderately complex problems.

• Develop comprehensive test plans on software design changes.

• Develop scripts according to the business specifications/designs.

• Assess risk associated with implementations and develop “back out” plans before implementing changes in production.

• Anticipate problems and propose multiple solutions

• Ensure all code is written, tested, integrated with the project codebase.

• Ensure quality of integration and testing activities through code and documentation quality to facilitate final delivery.

• Build solutions according to business specifications/designs that are supportable, scalable and achieve the aspiration of common assets.

• Maintain applications according to requirements which may involve modifications to existing scripts and workflow.

• Validate that production moves are performed, monitor production process after release

• Conduct product improvement through maintenance activities on existing products to correct errors in the original implementation, adding new features or re-architecting areas for performance improvement.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience - college/university graduates are welcome to apply!

• Experience with the modern SW dev/maintenance technologies, including CI/CD pipelines, unit tests, branching strategies, app monitoring tools 

• 1+ years of experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

• Open to learn – both with a mentor and independently - at a fast pace

• Open-mindedness to embrace - and be part of - modern payment mobile-centric technologies

• Daily coding and testing of React Native SW on mobile Android and iOS

• High degree of coding and testing on native Android and native iOS mobile SW

• Readiness to productively action upon peer/supervisor’s reviews, including in-depth code reviews

• Experience working within an Agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban)

• Familiar with Jira/Confluence – on-the-job training will be provided
