We are seeking a mid-level candidate to lead a software assurance team in the ES Defense Engineering team here at BAE Systems, Inc.
As the Software Assurance Team Lead, you will lead a team of software engineers that define secure software coding practices, create and facilitate training, and update and maintain coding standards. Your team will develop DevSecOps automated tasks, audit vulnerability scans, and perform software vulnerability remediations. This position will require familiarity with national defense and commercial industry policies and standards and multiple life-cycle development processes such as Agile and Waterfall.
In this role, you will work very closely with our Electronics Combat Systems business area to report team progress on schedule, cost, and performance. You will manage the team financial and staffing profile as the Cost Account Manager. You will track team risks and opportunities, estimate probability of occurrence and impacts, and recommend mitigation strategies.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. This team interfaces with geographically separated teams and offers limited opportunities to work remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering related discipline with 6 to 8+ years of experience after the date for the completion of your Bachelor's degree, or 4 to 6+ years of experience after the date for the completion of your Master's Degree
• Software or Systems engineering background and strong leadership skills that includes leading small ( 6 people) to mid-sized (6 - 12 people) engineering teams
• Proven performance management, mentoring, coaching, and communication skills
• Ability to balance working with multiple teams, local and remote
• Experience with managing projects to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained
• Experience managing team progress and tracking issues with JIRA
• Experience developing software applications using Git
• Understanding of software assurance practices
• Active and current DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Previous or current experience as a project team lead
• Experience refactoring C++ applications to reduce technical debt and/or software vulnerabilities
• Experience generating and auditing Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) and software vulnerability reports
• Experience performing Cost Account Manager duties
• Experience managing risks and opportunities
• Experience developing automated DevSecOps pipelines for the purpose of building high-quality and robust software applications
• Experience with providing coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensuring all necessary reviews and approvals are received
• Understanding of software development life-cycle management in a DevSecOps environment

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
