What does a Software Architect do at Hogarth?
We are seeking a highly motivated Software Architect to join our AI powered Intelligent Content product team. Our exciting product implements the latest AI technology, such as Computer Vision, Predictive Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing to inform how advertising content is performing across channel, market and format. It then uses this data with Generative AI models to create highly performing digital advertising at scale.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading the development of highly technical cloud product builds within a serverless AWS architecture. You will take ownership of engineering decisions and lead the product engineering team through technical scoping and solutions. You will define innovative and modern technical solutions to feature requirements and lead the engineering team during implementation. You’ll be working with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager as the technical counterpart on the leadership team and you will be an individual contributor coding alongside the engineering team, driving initiatives and collaborating with team members on delivering product features as well as building prototypes and POCs.
Key Responsibilities
- Be one of the main drivers of the technical direction and overall architecture of the product
- Work independently and within the team adhering to high technical standards, developing first-class solutions that meet our client needs and quality expectations, and providing accurate estimates
- Work effectively within an agile, deadline-driven production process to complete project tasks within rapid, iterative cycles
- Be an integral part of the code review process, providing constructive feedback against code produced by other team members
- Ensure good communication is maintained with other team members / departments
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager, other Technical Leads, Product and Project Managers to ensure that projects are taken from creation to completion - on time and on budget
- Ensure correct Engineering Principles and Practices are incorporated into the design and delivery of solutions
- Accountable to lead development initiatives
- Write concise, clean and understandable code, applying appropriate design patterns
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure they meet the acceptance criteria
- Use standard refactoring methods and appropriate design patterns to ensure code is kept in a maintainable state
- Keep abreast of the latest trends in applications development and continually develop software engineering skills
- Investigate and participate in discussions on technical best practices and help identify optimal technical solutions
- Actively contribute to departmental learning and standards through involvement in presentations/demonstrations, and participate in the continual drive for collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Train and mentor other members of the team
Reporting lines and key stakeholders
This role reports to the Intelligent Content Engineering Manager. You will work closely with the rest of the Intelligent Content engineering team as well as the Product team.
Requirements
- Strong experience in NodeJS
- Experience with Microservices is a must
- Strong experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, npm/yarn
- Experience in relational and/or document databases
- Experience in Cloud Technologies – AWS preferred
- Microservices and Domain Driven Design
- Git and Git workflows
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines (we are using GitHub actions)
- Experience with using AI services is a plus
- Strong experience in React
- Experience in Vue.js is a plus
- Experience with Monorepos is a plus
- Experience with micro-frontends is a plus
- Applying SOLID principles
- Advanced knowledge about the automated tests best practices
