Job Description SummaryThe Small Uncrewed Engines team is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our fast-paced and high energy team. In this role, you will be responsible for the enabling technology portfolio for small uncrewed engines. This individual will own execution and program management for current internally and externally funded programs while maintaining technology roadmaps for the multiple product line spaces GE Aerospace is operating in for this space. This role emphasizes autonomy and accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. A considerable portion of this role is externally focused to help shape and capture future science & technology (S&T) efforts synergetic to uncrewed engines. Roles and Responsibilities
- Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system. - Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
- Respond to request for proposals and request for information from external customers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from accredited university or college
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering and/or technical program management role.
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role will require the individual to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance. Prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.
Desired Characteristics
- Familiarity with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating model (or equivalent LEAN concepts).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of turbofan engines, component designs & systems, or other equivalent experiences
- Knowledge of TRL/MRL process and demonstration of technology gains in that construct
- Experience working with DoD customer and processes
- Experience working early engine development and integration programs
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
- Experience with the DoD acquisition process
- Demonstrated experience working with and presenting to customers
- Existing DoD Security Secret Clearance
- Working knowledge of CAMEO and program managing software (such as MS Project).
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
