About The Position |
The Transaction team at Dotdash Meredith is looking for a full-time PEOPLE Shopping writer to contribute daily service stories to PEOPLE.com about new-to-market products, brand sales, celebrity trends, and first-person reviews. They’ll also help readers find what to buy at major sale events, including Presidents Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon Prime Day. Most importantly, they’ll use affiliate links in these stories so that customers can purchase those products.
This role requires a mix of creativity and analytical thinking. The right candidate can pitch and write engaging and timely stories, incorporate search keywords, and parse performance data like revenue and page views to inform future content. They should have a passion for surfacing the best products and prices to a curious audience.
Ideally, this person will be an adaptable writer who can cover all of PEOPLE’s shopping categories (fashion, beauty, home, travel, and lifestyle) with clever pop culture angles. However, those with specialities in specific categories are also welcome to apply. Knowledge of celebrities, pop culture, sales events, and product trends is a plus.
This is a full-time position and reports into our Senior Editor and Strategist.
The day-to-day:

Pitch and write multiple shopping stories per week from an editorial point of view.

Track and use performance data to adjust editorial strategy on future stories, including retailer selection and shopping accessibility.

Reach out to high-quality experts to provide background information and quotes as needed.

Help execute content plans around major holidays and sales events.

Occasionally assist in our testing process by evaluating new products at home.

Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.
The right candidate is:

A strong writer with at least 2-3 years of experience with writing for an online publication (preferably shopping content).

Familiar with SEO and affiliate linking best practices.

Well-versed in a variety of shopping trends and product categories. Familiarity with current celebrity news is a plus.

Familiar with the PEOPLE.com voice and audience.

Comfortable with digital media tools such as proprietary CMSes, keyword research tools and Google Analytics.

Education:
